Category:Articles with broken file links

Here are some tips for assisting with clearing the backlog:

  • Check the history of the article. An article may have had a redlinked image added recently in which case it can be rolled back or undone. If the MediaWiki software sees this, it will put a tag in the edit history.
  • The file might have been deleted from Wikimedia Commons.
  • A template with a broken file link (see Category:Templates with broken file links) can make any article that uses the template appear here. After taking care of a missing image in a template, articles that use the template might stay in the category until an edit is done. To do an edit without changing the article (called a "null edit"), use the following steps:
  1. Click any "Change" link on the page.
  2. Click "Publish changes" at the bottom of the edit box without making any changes.
  • When removing an image from an infobox template be sure to remove the caption as well. There is no guarantee that a replacement image would use the same caption.
