History change

Colony was created in 1872. This was when a railroad was built through the area.[4] It was named after a colony from Ohio and Indiana, which settled in the neighborhood.[5]

The railroad tracks in Colony have since been changed to a rail trail. The trail is part of the Prairie Spirit Trail State Park.[6]

Colony is at 38°4′15″N 95°21′58″W / 38.07083°N 95.36611°W / 38.07083; -95.36611 (38.070803, -95.366109).[7] The United States Census Bureau says that the city has a total area of 0.48 square miles (1.24 km2). All of it is land.[8]

The 2020 census says that there were 381 people, 154 households, and 99 families living in Colony. Of the households, 78.6% owned their home and 21.4% rented their home.
