Hayward is a city in Sawyer County, Wisconsin, United States, It is on the Namekagon River. As of the 2020 census, 2,533 people lived there.[2] Hayward is the county seat of Sawyer County. The city is surrounded by the Town of Hayward.

Hayward was named for Anthony Judson Hayward, who built a sawmill there.[7]
