Ilya Bryzgalov

Russian ice hockey player

Ilya Nikolayevich Bryzgalov (Илья Николаевич Брызгалов in Russian; born 22 June 1980 in Togliatti, Russian SFSR, URS) is a Russian former professional ice hockey goaltender. Bryzgalov played parts of fourteen seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL). He played for the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim/Anaheim Ducks, Phoenix Coyotes, Philadelphia Flyers, Edmonton Oilers, and Minnesota Wild.

He was drafted by the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim with the 44th overall pick in the 2000 NHL Draft. He won the Stanley Cup with the Anaheim Ducks on June 6, 2007.

On March 4, 2014, the Oilers traded Bryzgalov to the Minnesota Wild for a fourth-round draft pick.[1]

On December 9, 2014, Bryzgalov signed a one-year; $2.88 million contract with the Anaheim Ducks.[2] He would be placed on waivers by the Ducks on February 23, 2015 and sent down to play with their AHL-affiliate Norfolk Admirals.[3] He would be released from the Ducks on February 26 and would retire from playing professional ice hockey to be closer to his family.[4]
