History
changeThe City of Jewell started in 1870. It was a big sod area called Fort Jewell. It was named after Lieutenant-Colonel Lewis R. Jewell.[4]
The first post office in Jewell was created in July 1870.[5]
Jewel was incorporated as a city in 1880.[6]
Jewell was on the Missouri Pacific Railroad.[7]
