Republican United States House Representative from South Carolina
Addison Graves "Joe" Wilson Sr. (born July 31, 1947) is an American politician. He has been the U.S. Representative for South Carolina's 2nd congressional district since 2001.

From 1985 to 2001, he was in the South Carolina Senate. He is a member of the Republican Party.
He was a member of the House Republican Policy Committee and was an Assistant Republican Whip.[2]
Wilson is known for interrupting a speech by U.S. President Barack Obama to the joint session of Congress by shouting "You lie!".[3][4]
On September 10, 2024, Wilson was hospitalized in Washington, D.C. for "stroke-like symptoms" after collapsing at an event.[5]
