American educator, counselor, motivational speaker, author and television host (1933-2016)

John Elliot Bradshaw (/ˈbrædˌʃɔː/; (June 29, 1933 – May 8, 2016) was an American educator, counselor, motivational speaker and author. He hosted a number of PBS television programs such as Bradshaw On: Homecoming. He was active in the self-help movement. He was known for creating the idea of "wounded inner child" and the dysfunctional family. His books are mainly works of popular psychology. His most popular book is Homecoming: Reclaiming and Championing Your Inner Child. He was born in Houston, Texas.

On May 8, 2016, Bradshaw died of heart failure in Houston at the age of 82.[1]
