Lesparre-Médoc
Lesparre-Médoc (Occitan: L'Esparra) is a commune in the Gironde department in Nouvelle-Aquitaine region in southwestern France. It is one of the five sub-prefectures of the department.

Geography
changeLesparre-Médoc is on the Médoc peninsula on left side of the estuary of the Garonne river. The city is at about 80 km (50 mi) north of Bordeaux.
It has an area of 37.0 km2 (14.3 sq mi),[2] and its average altitude is 21 m (69 ft); at the city hall, the altitude is 10 m (33 ft).[3]

Administration
changeLesparre-Médoc is a sub-prefecture of the Gironde department. It is also the capital of the arrondissement of Lesparre-Médoc and the administrative centre (French: chef-lieu) of the canton of Le Nord-Médoc with 39,923 inhabitants (2014).[6]
It is part of the intercommunality Médoc Cœur de Presqu'ile (French: Communauté de communes Médoc Cœur de Presqu'île).
