Lou Brissie

former Major League Baseball starting pitcher (1924-2013)

Leland Victor "Lou" Brissie (June 5, 1924 – November 25, 2013) was an American baseball starting pitcher. He played for two Major League Baseball teams—the Philadelphia Athletics from 1947 to 1951 and the Cleveland Indians from 1951 to 1953. He was a symbol for the disabled and veterans after getting leg injuries in World War II. He was born in Ware Shoals, South Carolina.

Brissie died from heart and lung failure on November 25, 2013 in Augusta, Georgia. He was 89.[1]
