The game recieved average and positive reviews by game critics. Critics said that they liked that the game felt like a new and fresh game in the Mario Kart series. They also liked the customization, track building feature, and was simple to set up. However, critics also felt that the Grand Prix felt repetitive, the AI was not good, and a lot of maintenance had to be done to repair the RC car.[4][5][6]
