Multilevel marketing (MLM; also called network marketing or referral marketing) is a marketing strategy. In normal marketing, salespeople are paid based on how much they sell. In multilevel marketing, salespeople also get rewards for recruiting new salespeople.
Depending on the details, the difference between multilevel marketing and a pyramid scheme can be very small.
Well-known MLMs include:[1]
- Amway
- Avon Products
- Herbalife
- Mary Kay
