In India, Pannu[1][2] is a surname of the Rajput-Jat community of Punjab.[3][4] It is likely to be originated from the ancient Pannam dynasty (ganrajya).[5]

Man, Mangat, Pannu, Randhawa, Sohi, Sahota, Sandhu, Sara, Sekhon, Sidhu, Sohal, Varaich and Virk. All claim Rajput origin except the Her, Bhullar and Man which claim to be the original Jat clans which sprang from the jata or matted hair of Siva.
