Richmond is a city in North-central Kentucky. It is a little south of Lexington, Kentucky and is the county seat of Madison County. Eastern Kentucky University is in Richmond. It had 34,585 people in 2020 and an land area of 20.3 square miles (52.6 square kilometers). It has an elevation of 978 feet (298 meters) and a density of 1,702/square mile (657/square kilometer). It is the seventh-largest city in Kentucky when listed by the number of people.
