Saadi Shirazi

Sheikh Muslih-ud-Din Mushrif-ibn-Abdullah Saadi Shirazi (1184-1291) (Persian: شیخ مصلحالدین مشرف بن عبدالله سعدی شیرازی) or Saadi was a Persian poet. He was born in Shiraz, Iran. He went to Baghdad to study Arabic literature and Islamic sciences in Nizamiyya University of Baghdad. He travelled to Anatolia, Syria, Egypt and Iraq. His most famous poetry book is the Bostan (Persian: بوستان, meaning The Orchard). He also wrote the Golestan (Persian: گلستان, meaning The Rosery). His poems are in Persian and Arabic.
