A fact from Color of the day (police) appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the Did you know? column on 14 March 2009. |
Things to fix before GA voting
change- Some ideas of mine...
- Is there a real need to disambiguate the title with (police)? We don´t have a Color of the day article so I suggest you move this one there.
- I think so; the color of the day is also a rule that is a part of Thai Buddhist astrology. I wanted to leave room for an import of en:Color of the day. If I move the article, then it will have to be admin-moved later on when/if the Buddhist article is created (which I probably will do at some point) in order to maintain parity with enWP.
- For repeated notes (e.g. 2, 3 and 4 & 8 and 9), use
ref name
.- Done (No excuse, I know how to do it, and should always do it [cut/paste = me being lazy]) :)
- Per MOS, move references to immediately follow punctuation wherever possible, e.g. move [10] behind the comma and [11] behind the full stop.
- Done; I'm always doing that! :)
- Fix ref 7 (i.e. complete the fields accessdate and publisher as a minimum) and for references with only one page used, use p. not pp.
- Done
- I think you should clearly state what it is used for in the lead, at least in summary.
- Done
- Avoid contractions such as "don't" per MOS.
- Done
- See if you can find a link for safety, perhaps Wiktionary?
- Done
- "With such a large amount of armed officers..." I´d prefer "With so many armed officers..."
- Is there a real need to disambiguate the title with (police)? We don´t have a Color of the day article so I suggest you move this one there.

Complex terms
changeHi, just a brief list of the complex terms which I think should linked, redescribed or explained in more detail...
- police
- Done
- episode
- Done
- work day
- Done changed to weekday
- disturb
- Done link to wikt
- "act like drunken" (pretend to be drunk - linking both pretend and drunk?)
- Done "pretend to be drunk
- recognition system - no need for recognition I think...
- Done
- "black policing" - black is ambiguous here so be specific.
- Done changed to African American (although I personally feel this is also problematic, the correct biological term is negroid or negro both of which are socially unacceptable)
Also, head-band or headband? And wrist band or wristband... Be consistent. The Rambling Man on tour (talk) 22:57, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
