There is in an invalid reference in the article, could someone remove it?--RJR3333 (talk) 14:58, 11 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Never mind, I fixed the mistake.
However I created a new fault on accident, Template:Pp-semi-blp. How do we get rid of that?--RJR3333 (talk) 15:46, 11 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
Never mind I managed to get rid of the bad template. This is RJR3333 logging in from an ip, just to lazy to log in. --67.52.221.226 (talk) 07:59, 12 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Charges against Polanski

change

In 1979, a then 13 year old declared Polanski had raped her; This happened at a party at Jack Nicholson's house. The girl was first given champaign, and later a sedative. Polanski then forced her to have anal sex with him. Polanski is arrested, and incarcerated 47 days in the US, and then freed on bail. He enters a deal with the judge and pleads guilty on the charge of having sex with a minor; as a consequence, the more grave charges of rape, sodomy, and providing alcohol and drugs to minors are dropped. During his bail he flees to the UK, then to France. Since he is a French citizen, he cannot be extradited from France. In 1993, Polanski proposed to pay 500.000 dollars to the girl within two years, in exhange of the dropping of the charge. The exact timeframe of the payments and the total sum are unknown. In 2003, and 2008, the girl, who has since married, and has two children, asks for the legal procedure to be dropped, in order to protect her children, and so that she does not have to re-live a trauma. In 2005, an international arrest warrant is issued; in 2009, when Polanski is to receive a Prize for his achievements in Zurich, he is arrested at the airport. He is put under house arrest at his residence in Gstaad. Many politicians, and artists speak out against the arrest; which becomes more and more a source of negative publicity for Switzerland. On 12 july, 2010, the minister of Justice, Eveline Widmer-Schlumpf, declares that Polanski will not be extradited to the US, and will regain his liberty. (official English press release) The reasons given for this was the refusal of the US authorities to provide evidence that would support the extradition; and that from outside, there were major deficiencies in the case. The US appeals to this decision, but without success.A more detailed description can be found in the French and English articles on Polanski.--Eptalon (talk) 09:01, 14 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Good summary. I've readded criminal categories per my reply on my talk page, since there is a source saying he was convicted by a court. Osiris (talk) 09:53, 14 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
I personally think the name of the girl should be included especially since later on, as I mentioned in the article, she publicly said it was time to move on and Polanski should not be prosecuted and I quoted her in the article. --RJR3333 (talk) 19:34, 14 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Fixing references

change

There are many references to a book, which is now listed under books. I think the references should be rewritten, like : Ain-Krupa, Julia, p.99. (since the only diff between many of them is the page number. Open to suggestions though.--Eptalon (talk) 10:29, 15 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
