In Australia

In 2018, in Port Douglas, Queensland, the Eco Friendly Week Australia (EFWA) Runaway Night Day 4 hosted a fashion show showing different traditional clothes of Meitei culture, including the illustrations of Sangai, Kangla Sha, Pung Cholom, Meitei Mayek and Nongin.[1]

In Melbourne, there is a small group of Meitei people. In April 2019, they were noted for celebrating the traditional lunar New Year festival of Cheiraoba.[2]

In August 2023, a group of Meitei people and other Indian diasporas living in Australia raised their voices against the government of India to take necessary actions to end the ethnic conflict happening in their home state of Manipur.[3] Regarding this issue, many people questioned the stand of the Australian Government to raise its concerns about the human rights violations happening in Manipur.[4]

In 2014, with the help of the Manipur Association of Canada (MAC), the Canadian Meitei people celebrated the Ningol Chakouba festival in Montreal.[5]

In January 2024, the Manipuri Association of Canada started a fund drive, collecting 60,000 rupees, in Canada, to help the victims of the ethnic violence that was happening in Manipur.[6]

A Toronto based "Manipuri Association of Canada" helps the coming and going of Meitei diasporas in the foreign nations.[7]

In January 2024, American Meitei diasporas sent 2,16,751 rupees to Manipur to help the victims of the ethnic violence in the state.[8]
