Removing image from T:TDYK nomination?

change

Hello there, and welcome to Simple English Wikipedia. When I nominated a fact from sexual slavery for T:TDYK, I also included the image, that is in the article. It shows a painting done in 1897. I wonder why you removed it? Eptalon (talk) 19:29, 20 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

The image should not appear on the main page. 2601:644:9083:5730:75C1:8003:5093:B95A (talk) 19:36, 20 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Why?- First of all, this is a painting, a work of art, and secondly, Wikipedia isn't censored. If I wrote a DYK of en:L'Origine du monde (sorry, we don't have the article yet), wouldn't you expect to see the image as well? Eptalon (talk) 20:02, 20 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
No, that should not be on the main page either. It is a very common belief in many parts of the world that nudity in a sexual context is a somewhat private thing. Therefore sexual images can be on articles but not on the main page. 2601:644:9083:5730:75C1:8003:5093:B95A (talk) 20:09, 20 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Esp. in Western Art, nudity is common. There are many pictures that show some scene from a historized setting (eg. Greek Mythology, Roman mythology), were the painter chose to include naked people... Eptalon (talk) 20:13, 20 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
