April 2024 change

Thank you for changing Wikipedia. We welcome all changes, but we can have only changes that are in simple English, and your new changes to "Jew" were not simple. Please see Wikipedia:How to write Simple English pages so you can write more simply in the future. Thank you. Auntof6 (talk) 09:52, 8 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Could you please explain how it wasn't simple? 92.4.213.174 (talk) 16:04, 12 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Mostly complex words and complex sentence structure. Wikipedia:How to write Simple English pages has information on how to write simple language here.
I'll give you some examples.
Example 1: You added this sentence:
A lot of Christians especially in Europe in the Middle ages thought that Jews were responsible for the death of Jesus and persecuted them en masse.
Complex words and phrases: persecuted, en masse. Persecuted could be linked to religious persecution; it's okay to use complex words if we can link them to an article for the subject.
Complex sentence structure: This sentence should be broken into two, and end up something like this (note that I'm not simplifying the words here, just the structure):
A lot of Christians especially in Europe in the Middle ages thought that Jews were responsible for the death of Jesus. The Christians persecuted the Jews en masse.
Example 2: You added this sentence:
The Romans then decided the Jews were too much trouble and destroyed all of Judea, killing lots of Jews, destroying Jerusalem and renaming it to Aelia Capitolina, renaming Judea to Syria Palaestina to spite them, and sending the remaining Jews into exile in the rest of the Empire and weren't allowed to return.
Complex words and phrases: exile, spite. Spite would have to be explained, but you could just add a link for exile.
Complex sentence structure: This sentence should be broken into about 6 or 7 sentences. Here's an attempt:
The Romans then decided the Jews were too much trouble. The Romans destroyed all of Judea. They killed lots of Jews. They destroyed Jerusalem and renamed it to Aelia Capitolina. They renamed Judea to Syria Palaestina to spite them. They sent the remaining Jews into exile in the rest of the Empire. The Jews weren't allowed to return.
Note that I am not saying that the things you added were written badly, just that they were written in a way that's too complex for Simple English Wikipedia. I hope this helps. If you have more questions for me, please be sure to ping me so that I see them. -- Auntof6 (talk) 21:08, 12 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hey, thanks for replying. Sorry was just in a bad mood then and I reflected that through my reply. Thank you for your criticism. Is there any way I can send my rephrased additions to you just before i add them to the page? That way any issues can be weeded out and follow the rules.
Again, thanks for replying! 92.4.213.174 (talk) 20:38, 20 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Btw, I made an account for this, so this account is the same as the IP address one Travancorean (talk) 20:41, 20 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Travancorean: Since you have an account now, you could make a copy of the article in a sandbox in your userspace and make you changes there. Then people could review your work there.
By the way, please ping me when you reply to me somewhere other than my own talk page. Thanks! -- Auntof6 (talk) 01:25, 22 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the change, consider creating an account so you will not get notices that are not for you.
