Getting started

change

Hi BPositive! Thank you for showing interest in this new pilot for the Indian Education Program! I expect that your willingness to support the initiative is a great boost of confidence to its coordinators. What I'd like to do now is to try to match that confidence within the community by getting you and the other volunteers started in actively editing here. Because each version of Wikipedia works differently, our local editors understandably would like to see you familiarised with the project before taking on a team of students. Once we begin working together and start seeing you build up the necessary experience, I think everyone will have a lot more confident in the plan.

If you haven't already visited them, the links in your welcome message show the very basics of how to get started here. You will probably find writing in simple English difficult at first (I certainly did), but with practice you will get good at it. I keep a list of things here that can help in simplifying. There are lots of topics about India that don't have articles on this wiki yet, so there is plenty to do! I've started to draw up a list of some of these here. It's not finished yet, and if you see something that should be there, please feel free to add it! Also, every week or so, a new set of "most wanted" articles that this wiki doesn't yet have will get listed on WP:RC.

If you need any help whatsoever along the way, just leave me a message on my talk page and I'll reply as soon as I can with the answer. Once you start editing, you will find that most if not all other editors will be willing to give you a few tips if you need them. Good luck and have fun!   Osiris (talk) 03:51, 29 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hi Osiris. Thanks for all the links. I shall start editing this wiki from July onwards as I have some priorities on en.wiki right now. Thanks for your support in advance. BPositive (talk) 05:34, 29 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
Great! I look forward to seeing what you come up with! Osiris (talk) 05:42, 30 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

Puneri Pagadi

change

This looks great. Clear, short sentences with basic words- exactly what simple English is. Don't be afraid to link to articles that don't exist yet (red links might not look nice, but they serve a good purpose). You can also link to Wiktionary if a difficult word is unavoidable. This is an great start! :) Osiris (talk) 08:38, 2 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Watchlist

change

I noticed that you started Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus. This caused me to wonder if you might want to add List of World Heritage Sites in India to your watchlist? --Horeki (talk) 19:31, 12 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Done. Thanks for the note. I'll see if I can work on some more articles and remove the red links from that page. Cheers! --BPositive (talk) 04:34, 13 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Bharata Natyam

change

Hi, I left a few questions at Talk:Bharata_Natyam. The article itself is written very clearly and simply. I just think there might be a bit too much enthusiasm for the subject. Please have a look and see if my comment is helpful or not. Thanks, and keep editing, Gotanda (talk) 11:14, 15 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Replied at Talk:Bharata_Natyam. Thanks, BPositive (talk) 12:11, 15 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Articles about teams at the Olympics

change

Please take a look at the small changes I made in India at the Olympics. The introduction and history sections are mirrored in other similar articles -- for example, see Australasia at the Olympics and Japan at the Olympics. What do you think? --Horeki (talk) 15:55, 27 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
