WikiProject YouTube change

Hello, Jamesjpk, and thanks for creating WikiProject YouTube. I can see that you're new here, so you probably didn't know that we handle WikiProjects differently here. Here are some of the differences:

  • WikiProjects here are unofficial and they are maintained in userspace.
  • We do not use categories for individual WikiProjects. There is Category:WikiProjects for the project pages and Category:WikiProject user templates for WikiProject user templates.
  • We do not use categories for WikiProject participants. Participants can be listed on individual project pages.
  • We do not use WikiProject banners on article talk pages.

Because of this, I deleted the WikiProject category that you created, and removed categories from the project banner. I also moved the membership subpage to User:Jamesjpk/WikiProject YouTube/Members (you had left out your user name).

Feel free to ask any questions you have about this, and good luck with this interesting-sounding project. --Auntof6 (talk) 02:47, 28 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Thank you Auntof6! I don't really know the norms of this wiki, and just tried to spread the project from one Wikimedia to the next. Thank you for teaching me how this works! Jamesjpk (talk) 06:38, 30 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
You're welcome. By the way, I just moved the userbox back to your userspace. I don't understand why you think you can't categorize it correctly in userspace, but userspace is where these userboxes are kept. --Auntof6 (talk) 07:53, 30 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
Oh cool. Thank you! Jamesjpk (talk) 07:54, 30 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
I was wondering, On WP:WP, it says that "until a WikiProject has been accepted by the community here and moved to the Wikipedia mainspace, it should not have notices placed on article talk pages. Once it is in the Wikipedia mainspace, it is fine to add these notices." Is this under consensus? I haven't seen any notices anywhere for WikiProjects on article talk pages. Is the number of WikiProjects approved by the community just really small? Let me know. Thanks! Jamesjpk (talk) 07:57, 30 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
I've seen that, too, but in practice we don't have WikiProjects in mainspace at all, and we don't use page notices. We try to keep things simple here is a lot of ways, not just the use of English. By the way, I have a list here of other things that are different here. Feel free to look at it and let me know if you have any other questions. --Auntof6 (talk) 08:04, 30 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Vacation change

If you're still around, you might want to check the end date in your vacation notice. I don't think 5/37/17 is a valid date in any system I know. --Auntof6 (talk) 04:12, 31 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Self-trout Oh you caught that! Thank you so much! I actually meant 6/6/17. Changing right now. Jamesjpk (talk) 04:23, 31 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
