Redmarkviolinist~simplewiki
Hello, Redmarkviolinist, and welcome to the Simple English Wikipedia! I hope you will be happy helping here. You should begin by reading these pages: Wikipedia:Useful, Help:Contents, Wikipedia:Policies and guidelines, and how to write Simple English articles. If you want some ideas of which pages to work on, read Wikipedia:Requested articles or the list of wanted pages.
Even though it is a good idea to research an article (like looking at the discussion page) before making large changes, please be bold and try! Any changes you make that are not perfect can be fixed later. We are also working most on core articles and the most common topics until this Wikipedia grows.
If you want to ask a question or talk with other members, you can visit our version of the "village pump" at Wikipedia:Simple talk. Administrators on Wikipedia can also help you with more difficult problems. You can also ask me for help. The best way to do that is to leave a message on my talk page. You should always sign your messages on Talk pages by typing "~~~~" (four tildes) at the end of your words.
If you would like to test Wikipedia, please use the sandbox. Please do not test Wikipedia by editing its articles.
Good luck and happy editing! The Rambling Man (talk) 12:42, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
- Heh, I'm quite new here myself! Enjoy it here, it's much slower paced and you can feel like you're making a really significant difference. All the best! The Rambling Man (talk) 12:53, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
Advice
changeI have a little bit of advice for you: Could you please name your articles properly? I just moved Bridagier general to Brigadier General because of the lower case G in general. I understand that you are new to this site, and I just wanted to let you know this so that you can become a better user in the long run. Thanks, Razorflame 15:20, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
- No problem. I'm just used to the regular Wikipedia. ṜέđṃάяķvюĨїήīṣŢ Drop me a line§ 15:21, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
- Oh, and for biographies, there's a neat little template {{BD}} which gives you the birth and death categories. Check it out! And don't forget to interwiki your articles and use images which are on the Commons. Check out my last edit to George Stoneman for the sort of thing I'm on about! - That's pretty helpful. Thanks for the tip! ṜέđṃάяķvюĨїήīṣŢ Drop me a line§ 15:29, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

(unindenting)When creating articles for this site, please don't just directly copy and paste exactly what is on the English Wikipedia pages, even if all you are doing is just copypasting part of the article, it still isn't simple. Almost all of the articles that you've created since you've been a member of this site suffer from this kind of problem, and there is a pretty simple way to get around it; all you have to do is just think of synonyms that are simpler for harder words, as well as rephrasing certain sentences. While I am happy that you are creating articles, just creating complex pages that use English that is way too hard for most Simple English users to understand doesn't help us reach our goal of creating a Simple English encyclopedia. I hope you understand the problems that arise from these. If you are stuck on the simplification of a particular article, feel free to ask any of the other editors on this site for help in the simplification of your articles. Please remember to do this in the future. Thanks, Razorflame 20:16, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
Your account will be renamed
changeHello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Redmarkviolinist. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Redmarkviolinist~simplewiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name. If you think you might own all of the accounts with this name and this message is in error, please visit Special:MergeAccount to check and attach all of your accounts to prevent them from being renamed.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
