World of Tanks is a team-based massively played multiplayer online game featuring tanks from the World War II era. the 1930s to the 1950s. World of Tanks includes more than 500 armored vehicles from China,the Soviet Union, Germany, the United States, France, Britain, Japan,Italy, Sweden, Poland, Hungary, and Romania. The idea of ​​the game, according to the developers, arose on December 29 or 30, 2008, although the decision to make a game about tanks came after a conversation in Moscow on December 12, 2008, where they thought about what to make a game about. Prior to that, the developers were working on a fantasy-style game. In the spring of 2009, game designer Sergey Burkatovsky, also known as SerB, joined the company. Soon the project was given the code name "Tankodrom". Work on the first version went on until the summer of 2009. Then the closed alpha test of the game began.

The official announcement of the game was made by Wargaming.net on April 24, 2009. According to the developers, the largest budget in the history of the CIS gaming industry was planned for the creation of the World of Tanks game, but there is no exact data on the budget of the game. Alpha testing of the game began in September of that year; at that time, only five tank models and one unfinished map were created. By the time of the closed beta testing on January 30, 2010, several dozen models of armored vehicles and three fully finished maps were already ready. For five months, about 40,000 applications were submitted for participation in the beta test, and more than 400,000 battles were fought during testing. In March 2010, the developers announced that they intend to develop the project for at least another 5-7 years.

On June 24, 2010, the open beta testing of the game began; in the first version of the open beta test, the tank building schools of the USSR and Germany and seven different maps were available to players. On July 8, a closed beta test of the English version of World of Tanks started. On August 12, the online release of World of Tanks took place, but due to technical reasons, the game servers only started working on August 13, 2010.

On January 27, 2011, the English version of the game went into open beta mode, its release took place on April 12, 2011.[5]
