History change

Almena was a shipping point at the junction of two railroads.[4] It was named by Margaret Brown Coleman.[5] She named it after Almena, Wisconsin,[6] her hometown.

The first post office in Almena was created in June 1872.[7]

2020 census change

The 2020 census says that there were 363 people, 152 households, and 85 families living in Almena. Of the households, 65.8% owned their home and 34.2% rented their home.

The median age was 45.6 years. Of the people, 90.4% were White, 3.3% were some other race, and 6.3% were two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 5.5% of the people.[3][8]

2010 census change

The 2010 census says that there were 408 people, 180 households, and 102 families living in Almena.[9]

Education change

Almena is part of USD 212 Northern Valley Schools. The Northern Valley High School mascot is Huskies.[10]
