History change
Belpre was created in 1879.[4] It was incorporated in 1906.[5] Belpre's name came from the French word "belle prairie" for "beautiful meadow".[6]
The first post office in Belpre was created in 1879.[7]

Belpre is at 37°57′2″N 99°5′59″W / 37.95056°N 99.09972°W (37.950669, -99.099822). The United States Census Bureau says that the city has a total area of 0.41 square miles (1.06 km2). All of it is land.[2]
