History
changeBuffalo was created in 1867.[4] It took its name from Buffalo Creek, which was named after the American bison. The bison is often called the buffalo.[5]
The first store in Buffalo opened in 1869. The first hotel opened in 1870. Buffalo grew in 1886 when the Missouri Pacific Railroad was built through it.[6] Buffalo was incorporated as a city in 1898.[7]

changeThe 2020 census says that there were 217 people, 93 households, and 56 families living in Buffalo. Of the households, 83.9% owned their home and 16.1% rented their home.

Education
changeBuffalo is a part of USD 387 Altoona-Midway. The Altoona-Midway High School mascot is the Jets.[11]
Buffalo High School closed in 1958 because of school unification. The Buffalo High School mascot was the Pirates.[12]
