Jim Leach
American politician (1942-2024)
James Albert Smith Leach (October 15, 1942 – December 11, 2024) was an American academic and politician. He was born in Davenport, Iowa. He was the ninth Chair of the National Endowment for the Humanities from 2009 to 2013.[1][2] He was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Iowa from 1977 to 2007 as a Republican.[3]
Leach died on December 11, 2024 at a hospital in Iowa City, Iowa from a heart attack caused by a stroke at the age of 82.[4][5][6]
