Name
changeThe name Las Terrenas comes from the French La terrienne (the "lady that owns land").[3]
Population
changeThe municipality had, in 2014, a total population of 18,829: 9,776 men and 9,053 women. The urban population was 59.1% of the total population.[1]
Geography
changeLas Terrenas has a total area of 111.9 km2 (43 sq mi), about 13% of the total area of the province of Samaná.[1] The city is an elevation of 17 m (56 ft) above sea level,[2] and at 48 km (30 mi) to the northwest of Samaná.
Las Terrenas does not have any municipal district.[4]
The municipality of Las Terrenas has the Atlantic Ocean to the north, the municipality of Sánchez to the west and south, and the municipality of Samaná to the east.
Economy
