The Maroon-backed Imperial pigeon (Ducula badia), also known as the Mountain Imperial pigeon or Hodgson's Imperial pigeon, is a species of bird in the pigeon and dove family with a wide range in Southeastern Asia. Overall the pigeon has a wide range in south-eastern Asia, where it occurs in Bangladesh,[1] Bhutan, Brunei, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand, and Vietnam. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, subtropical or tropical mangrove forests, and subtropical or tropical moist montane forests. It is considered as the “National dove of Bangladesh” respectively.[n 1].
