Palmer was founded in 1878.[4] It was named for J. Palmer, a teacher.[5]

The first post office in Palmer was founded in June 1878.[6]

According to the United States Census Bureau says that the city has a total area of 0.31 square miles (0.80 km2). All of it is land.[2]

2020 census

The 2020 census said that there were 125 people, 55 households, and 37 families living in Palmer. Of the households, 78.2% owned their home and 21.8% rented their home.

The median age was 41.1 years. Of the people, 98.4% were White, 0.8% were from some other race, and 0.8% were two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.8% of the people.[3][9]
