In 2009, The Muppet Movie was selected by the United States National Film Registry.

The movie tells the origin story of the Muppets, as Kermit the Frog goes on a cross-country tour to Los Angeles, encountering several of the Muppets who all share the same ambition of finding success in professional show business along the way while being pursued by a greedy restaurant person named Doc Hopper who plans to turn Kermit into a frog legs dish.
