Wikipedia translation of the week: 2021-39
changeThe winner this Translation of the week is
Please be bold and help translate this article! Behavior-altering parasites are parasites with two or more hosts, capable of causing changes in the behavior of one of their hosts to enhance their transmission, sometimes directly affecting the hosts' decision-making and behavior control mechanisms. They do this by making the intermediate host, where they may reproduce asexually, more likely to be eaten by a predator at a higher trophic level which becomes the definitive host where the parasite reproduces sexually. Examples can be found in bacteria, protozoa, viruses, and animals. Parasites may also alter the host behaviour to increase the protection to the parasites or their offspring. The term bodyguard manipulation is used for such mechanisms. Among the behavioral changes caused by parasites is carelessness, making their hosts easier prey. The protozoan Toxoplasma gondii, for example, infects small rodents and causes them to become careless and may even cause them to become attracted to the smell of feline urine, both of which increase their risk of predation and the parasite's chance of infecting a cat, its definitive host. (Please update the interwiki links on Wikidata of your language version of the article after each week's translation is finished so that all languages are linked to each other.) User warnings
changeHello 13switch, why did you warn 85.12.92.93? I already placed a user warning, and we are not supposed to warn again if they have not edited since a warning. Cheers, Hockeycatcat (talk) 10:55, 27 September 2021 (UTC)
Notability
change- It's not enough for a page to be true, it must also be notable. Your recent page Source Sans does not say why it is notable: as it stands, it may be deleted as an advert. There needs to be independent evidence of its notability. Independent, that is, of your opinion or that of the creator. Macdonald-ross (talk) 13:04, 27 September 2021 (UTC)
