RfD closures

Hi, George. I might not have been specific enough when I reminded everyone to manually enter the delete reasons on some RfDs. Even when they're entered manually, we still need the link to the RfD. You get that by entering the page name of the RfD in brackets. Could you restore the ones you deleted and enter the delete reason that way? I'll clarify what's needed on my WP:AN post. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 17:37, 1 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hello and thanks

I came here to simple wikipedia because my friend said to check it out. Interesting wiki, to say the least. Honestly, it may take a little effort to write 'simply' haha StellarDrift (talk) 13:13, 21 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Welcome! :) It certainly does, especially when it comes to complex subject matter. (I'm going to be updating calculus pages and that's definitely going to be a challenge!) I would say that writing here is harder than on EnWiki, certainly. I hope you stick around and I look forward to your contributions. Cheers, --George (Talk · Contribs · CentralAuth · Log) 13:24, 21 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Might want to revoke talk page access for 68.149.125.146 per this edit. Thanks for the quick block   -- There'sNoTime (to explain) 21:29, 26 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Template:Start tab & Template:Start tab/doc

Hey, could you delete this template and its documentation? I messed up and overlooked that some templates used weren't created on the Simple English Wikipedia. (G7) Thanks. Zhangj1079 (T|C) 19:35, 25 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

  Done - No problem. --George (Talk · Contribs · CentralAuth · Log) 20:25, 25 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi can you please stop reverting me? Thanks Thiccdaddy (talk) 19:55, 1 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

Caliburn (number like 100000)

Hi Caliburn me again I'm just confused by what you mean??? Are you leaving my talk and apologising, being sarcastic or saying to delete it all together? I'm leaving it up and although you seem like a nice person, you don't control my life. Regards, ThiccDaddy xxx Thiccdaddy (talk) 20:01, 1 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

Welcome

Well, thank you! I came indeed from English Wikipedia (although I am also a sysop at Greek wikiquote). I hope I will be helpful here too! --Kostas20142 (talk) 16:06, 4 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

Kostas20142 Certainly! We could always do with an extra pair of hands! :) Don't be afraid to ask if you have any questions. See you around, --George (Talk · Contribs · CentralAuth · Log) 17:10, 4 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

Deletion of World War I casualties

Thanks. Given how many times it's been deleted in the past, maybe you should at least make its re-creation semiprotected. StevenJ81 (talk) 21:02, 9 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

(talk page stalker) @StevenJ81: It may have been deleted several times, but not close in time, so protection isn't needed. --Auntof6 (talk) 21:10, 9 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
You and I have often disagreed on such, Auntof6, and I respect your opinion. If I were sysop I would protect, because anyone experienced could create the page, but I'd be avoiding an otherwise relatively frequent problem. StevenJ81 (talk) 21:13, 9 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
Semi-protection is used when vandalism is so frequent that we have trouble keeping up with it -- we're talking very frequent vandalism (like many times per hour). This page has been deleted 8 times in 5 years, which is not frequent and definitely not too hard to keep up with. --Auntof6 (talk) 22:18, 9 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
Semi-protection of an existing page is one thing; we want people to have every opportunity to edit such a page. Semi-protection of a page creation is not necessarily the same thing at all. If this page is ever created with legitimate content, I wouldn't keep it semi-protected, on the grounds you stated. But I would have no problem preventing page creation by an IP in this case. Ashwati Nair

You blocked User:Slvarma as a POV pusher from En. Do you think User:Ashwati Nair is the same? @Chrissymad: any thoughts from you as you brought the checkuser case up at En.? Only (talk) 13:46, 11 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

Looking at their contribs, there is very little doubt in my mind. They have assumed an almost identical editing pattern, in addition to citing very obscure Quora answers by Arya Vams, who is the sockmaster behind Slvarma. I would say that this behavioural evidence is sufficient to warrant a block, though I'd like to hear a second opinion on this. --George (Talk · Contribs · CentralAuth · Log) 14:01, 11 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

I have blocked this user?
I'm not sure what you mean. --George (Talk · Contribs · CentralAuth · Log) 09:44, 12 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
I don't remember blocking anyone in Wikipedia. Let me check. Ashwati Nair (talk) 10:01, 12 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
I was told that I should have proofs for what I post in Wikipedia. So, I'm refering books and websites. So, that I can add from where I got the information Ashwati Nair (talk) 10:01, 12 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
I'm posting all these information because many people have misconceptions about Nair community. They don't know the rules of this community. So, I want to tell them that what they are thinking is wrong. We Nairs are entirely different people. Most of us are very religious and orthodox. Ashwati Nair (talk) 10:06, 12 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
When I started to write this information people came to know more about our community. For example, Business Tycoons Shri.Rajan Pillai and Shri.Ravi Pillai are actually Tamil Pillais. They are not Malayali Nair Pillais. Tamil Pillais are different people. They have no similarities with Malayali Nairs. For example, they practice Avunculate marriage. They have the tradition of marrying off a girl to her maternal uncle. But this is considered taboo among all the Malayalis. Ashwati Nair (talk) 10:12, 12 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
Some communities which migrated Kerala in ancient times are OBCs.But they saying that they are Nairs because they want to distinguish themselves from Ezhavas. These communities have separate rituals and origin which is very very very different from Ezhava community. At the same time, they have no similarities with Nair community. They are not the members of NSS(Nair Seva Samaajam/Nair Service Society). Ashwati Nair (talk) 10:20, 12 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
One user called Manu used bad language on Nair women in the page Thampi and Thankachi. I've gone through many pages. I've not seen any Nair using bad language towards women of other communities. Some people say that "Nairs are Shudras so why they are given General Category status?" They don't know that Shudra Nairs are actually the people of migrated communities. Whereas, Kiriyathil, Illathu, Vellaayama and Swaroopathil are Nagavanshi Kshatriyas. We are real Nairs. Our community is mentioned in the ancient scriptures of Kerala. I don't know if there is any dispute between these migrated communities and Ezhava community. For example, some people claimed that Thiyyas and Chekavas are actually Ezhavas. So what Thiyya and Chekavas did is that they made their own organisation, Thiyya Mahasabha, and made all the Thiyyas its members. Whenever you get time, try to visit the website of Thiyya Mahashabha. You cannot enter it. They will ask you username and password. Ashwati Nair (talk) 10:34, 12 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
Some people of Kaniyar community are trying to establish that "it's them who taught Kalari to Nairs." These Kaniyar and Kaniyan are the people who migrated to Kerala in ancient times from Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. They don't even know the meaning of the Malayalam word Kalari. Kalari means school or institution in Malayalam. Name of the martial art is Kalaripayattu. I remember once when my parents were talking to an astrologer he said: "we belong to Kalari Panicker caste of Kaniyar community and we marry Nairs." And my parents were astonished because they know the rules of Nair community. What that astrologer said is a BIG BIG BIG LIE. Real Nairs don't marry from Kaniyar community. LTA vandals

I'm still trying to learn how to recognize/find long-term abuse when users are reported at WP:VIP. So I have a question about your block of User:50.77.104.17: since this user has only two edits here, did you check other Wikipedias to find the long-term issue? If not, then how did you identify that it was LTA? Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 23:04, 22 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Auntof6: The LTA in question used to vandalise articles related to (politicians involved with) Obamacare and Taylor Swift, but they have since resorted to posting similar information on random pages to dodge page protection. Their editing pattern is rather unique (being vague as not to give anything away), so their IPs are not too difficult to identify. They are evading several blocks, by IP hopping, hence the duration. I saw the thrilling so called German river board surfing or lake surfing for some that only was exclusive of misunderstood Gems of Anglo Saxon males seeking an alternative to short lived waves and boring surf found in non other states unlike those of Hawaii. But being most of these men were richly from Germany they liked rushing water and lots of attentiveness. I haven't been here that long, but I have made a lot of edits that rollback could help make easier. Do you think I should request rollback permissions, or wait a month or two? The guidelines aren't very clear on how long they want an editor to be here before permissions will be granted. Thank's, Adotchar| reply here 11:06, 5 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
I will have no problem giving you rollback rights, in say, a few weeks to a month once I'm confident you've grasped the differences between enwiki and simple. --George (Talk · Contribs · CentralAuth · Log) 16:49, 7 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
