Hi, Claimgoal and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you will be happy helping here. You should begin by reading these pages: Wikipedia:Useful, Help:Contents, Wikipedia:Policies and guidelines, and how to write Simple English articles. If you want some ideas of which pages to work on, read Wikipedia:Requested articles or the list of wanted pages.

If you want to ask a question or talk with other members, you can visit our version of the "village pump" at Wikipedia:Simple talk. Administrators on Wikipedia can also help you with more difficult problems. You can also ask me for help. The best way to do that is to leave a message on my talk page. You should always sign your messages on Talk pages by typing "~~~~" (four tildes) at the end of your words.

Even though it is a good idea to research an article (like looking at the discussion page) before making large changes, please be bold and try! Any changes you make that are not perfect can be fixed later. We are also working most on core articles and the most common topics until this Wikipedia grows.

If you would like to test Wikipedia, please use the sandbox. Please do not test Wikipedia by changing its articles.

Good luck, and have fun. -- Lights  talk  02:28, 7 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Template

change

I see you've created a template to show that an article may be complex. However, we already have a template for this under {{complex}}. --Gwib -(talk)- 12:52, 7 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

WikiProject SpongeBob SquarePants

change

The page Wikipedia:WikiProject SpongeBob SquarePants has been move to your userspace User:Claimgoal\WikiProject SpongeBob SquarePants. Because of the size and number of active editors on this wiki, it is the current practice that all wikiprojects must first be proven to be both needed and having active editors to support them before being accepted. We just do not have enough editors who are willing or able to support the needs of most new wikiproject. Because of this, all suggested wikiprojects need to prove there is both need and support before being officially accepted into the wikipedia: namespace. Until that time, the User name space is to be used to co-ordinate efforts of any users of the project. -- Creol(talk) 05:13, 10 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Userboxes not allowed in Template namespace

change

Userboxes are currently not allowed in the Template namespace for now. If you want, you can create it in the User namespace. Chenzw (talkchanges) 11:21, 12 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Uploading images

change

Images are not allowed to be uploaded directly to the Simple English Wikipedia, and any images uploaded here will be deleted. Please upload any images you want to upload to the Commons. When you upload images to the Commons, you can use them here. Thanks. -- Lights  talk  13:27, 14 March 2008 (UTC) Reply

You said it needed to be there so I could upload it. —This unsigned comment was added by Claimgoal (talkchanges) 13:46, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

Images at the commons don't need to be uploaded here; commons' images can be used on any wikimedia project without them having to be uploaded again.-- Lights  talk  13:46, 14 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Oh... Now I get it.

Your edit in April Fools Day

change

The passage you just removed may be usful. I have placed it on the talk page for someone to rewrite into the correct tone. Regards -- Da Punk '95 (talk) 06:37, 28 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

I'll do it. Claimgoal 06:42, 28 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Re that passage

change

It was put back into the article, and I did some research on it, and removed it again.

Even if one removes the bigotry of words like "unbelievers", the story remains full of inaccuracies. I think that the enntire story is a constructed propaganda, the aim of which is to show that "unbelievers" are deceitful and corrupt. It warns strongly against the "Western" corruption of cigarettes and alcohol, and puts down the loss of Spain solely to these two things. There is no historical fact in it whatsoever. Tobacco did not enter Europe until 90 years after the Muslims surrendered Granada.

But in a world where the leader of a nation can deny the holocaust, simply as a political strategy, then a story as inaccurate as this can easily be told and passed off as fact. Incidentally, the date was January 2 1492, not April 1.

By the way, I don't believe that this inclusion was an April Fool's Joke. This might be the case. But my reason for thinking that it is a genuine edit is that the language used, the story itself and the implications are entirely in line with other Islamic stories which caste "unbelievers" as the villains.

Your created template

change

Hello! Thank you for creating the Template {{IPWelcome}}. However, a similar template already exists, and has hence been nominated for deletion. Don't be dejected just because of this; the English Wikipedia still has some templates we don't have here. Chenzw (talkchanges) 08:14, 1 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Quick deletion templates

change

Hi there! The template you have recently changed, {{non}}, is for tagging nonsense articles only. If you would like to specify a different reason, you can tag the article using {{qd|reason}}. The other quick deletion templates are there as they are the most common reasons an article is deleted and are created for convenience. Chenzw  Talk  07:59, 9 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Email

change

Since you are running an RFA, could you please now enable an email in your preferences, and follow the steps to confirm it. Admins sometimes get contacted via email. If you don't have an email account, there are websites like Google and Yahoo! that offer free email.-- Lights  talk  11:47, 15 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

I'm about to confirm it. It is joesmaquel@yahoo.com.au. Claimgoal (talk) 11:49, 15 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Your RfA

change

I've noticed that after you posted your RfA that you posted to both Light's and Chenzw's talk pages a message saying to look at your RfA. I learned the hard way that you should, instead of posting messages to users' talk pages, trust other users to post to your page without the need for a prod in the back with a pointy stick. It doesn't bode well with me that you asked them to look at your RfA. Cheers, Razorflame 14:30, 15 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Your signature

change

I have noticed that you have a hard time doing your signature as you have to copy the code from your user page. There is an easier way to do this; create a user sub page containing the code of your signature and in your settings, set the nickname to {{subst:User:Necknoise/1234}}, where 1234 is the page name. Be sure to check the box "Raw signatures" as well.

When this is done, you just need to sign by typing ~~~~ in the future. Chenzw  Talk  08:33, 24 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Note: You don't need to add the date on the page. Chenzw  Talk  12:49, 24 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
I mean, you add {{subst:User:Necknoise/1234}} to "Nickname", which is under your settings, after that, you just need to type ~~~~. Chenzw  Talk  12:52, 24 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
I know how to do it now. I just did it on my sandbox. Necknoise 12:55, 24 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
change

As you can see from my addition, the header is actualy a bit more dynamic than your usual header. Rather than having to change colors whenever the mood hits you and needing to recode it all, the header is set to accept two color options:

  • color sets the base color setting. If it is the only one set, both colors will be set to this value.
  • color2 sets the block color. If left blank, the value set for coloris used.

Both color variables are set to the RGB values without the # sign (99ED12 rather than #99ED12). If no color is set, the default is a shade of green.

The header also accepts time shifting. time is set to the UTC offset (defaults to +14 if not set). I couldn't remember the offset (or for that matter, which offset as Au has a couple) so I just let it have a setting all to itself. -- Creol(talk) 13:41, 24 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Why did you undo my change? For the xbox 360 article? I linked the word "second" becuase some people might not know what second means. And are you really 9 years old?

Well I'll revert what I just did! And yes I am 9. Somewhere you'll find it says Simple English Wikipedia is for kids. Necknoise 23:14, 24 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Username change

Hi there,

I can rename you to Flamethrower, but it's probably not a good idea. The name is already taken on EN Wikipedia, and it cannot be usurped. If you do wish to merge your accounts under unified login, you will not be able to use the name Flamethrower on EN Wikipedia. Would you like to choose a different name, or would you like me to go ahead and rename anyway? Archer7 - talk 22:29, 28 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Renaming users can cause things to get a little complicated, so we can't rename people all the time. If I rename you this time, I wouldn't really want to do it again. Choco is taken on ES (Spanish), FR (French) and SK (Slovak) Wikipedias. Think carefully about your new name, and let me know what you want to do. Archer7 - talk 08:11, 29 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
I don't really know what kind of name you're after. You can check to see if there will be any conflicts in the SUL process by using this tool, which shows if there are any accounts with contributions for a given username. Archer7 - talk 09:26, 29 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
OK, before I rename you again, would you mind going through your user subpages and flagging any you don't want for deletion? Otherwise they create a load of redirects which I have to delete when I rename you. Archer7 - talk 11:03, 29 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
OK, I've now renamed you, sorry about the delay. I've left all your user subpages intact, because they all seemed integral to your userpage, and I felt too guilty to delete them after all your effort... Archer7 - talk 10:24, 7 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Nicktoons

change

Should we make a task force or WikiProject about Nicktoons, because there are many incorrect things in several Nicktoon articles. Even the template is incorrect, Wayside is not a Nicktoon, also, Johnny Bravo never aired in Nickelodeon.
