Username
changeHi, your username is offensive. Offensive usernames are against Wikipedia rules. Please change it. You can request your name to be changed by asking a bureaucrat. Regards, ← κεηηε∂γ (talk) (wikiproject collaboration) 19:08, 27 July 2008 (UTC)
- I would second that. The Rambling Man (talk) 14:14, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
- Apparently he sent Gwib an email about this. You (TRM) should contact Gwib for more information. Chenzw Talk 14:16, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
- Even if he is 'Mentally Impaired' it is still not appropriate. He may not have a problem with the term, but others most likely will. ← κεηηε∂γ (talk) (wikiproject collaboration) 14:28, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
- Gwib's on holiday. Anyway, I don't really care if he's mentally impaired or not. I may be a white bastard but I wouldn't have a username like User:WhiteBastard would I? The Rambling Man (talk) 14:45, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
- Agreed. It could be taken as an offensive term, there is no reasonable excuse that I can think of that will allow him to keep it. ← κεηηε∂γ (talk) (wikiproject collaboration) 14:50, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
- Why do you want to call yourself spastic anyway? Its offensive to yourselve, not to others. Minor Contributer (talk) 09:29, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

- You guys are showing your ignorance. Or is it "mental impairment"? Being spastic does not imply that a person is mentally impaired. It implies that the person is physically impaired. Perhaps this person genuinely suffers from cerebral palsy. If so, they are perfectly entitled to refer to themselves as "total spastic". Well, perhaps not quite "total" if they can use a keyboard. But if this person is in fact "able-bodied" then it is a name in bad taste. Otherwise, far be it for me to refuse a person the right to identify with their disability. - And you're showing your ignorance of policy. Any username which could cause offensive is disallowed; your PC view of the universe does not apply here I'm afraid. The Rambling Man (talk) 15:20, 29 July 2008 (UTC)
- A quote from en.wiki "In 2007, Lynne Murphy, a linguist at the University of Sussex, described the term as being "one of the most taboo insults to a British ear" " ← κεηηε∂γ (talk) (wikiproject collaboration) 15:37, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

- In Australia we have the US view (non-offensive), and I meant Total Spastic as "Very Crazy". Anyway - WP:CHU. -- Total Spastic 06:08, 30 July 2008 (UTC)
