Please be bold and help translate this article! Mary Nzimiro, birthname Mary Nwametu Onumonu, MBE (1898–1993) was a pioneering Nigerian businesswoman, politician and women's activist. In 1948, she was appointed principal representative of the United Africa Company (UAC) for Eastern Nigeria, while maintaining textile and cosmetics retail outlets of her own in Port Harcourt, Aba and Owerri. By the early 1950s, she was among the richest individuals in West Africa, becoming a resident of the exclusive Bernard Carr Street in Port Harcourt. On the political front, she was a member of the influential National Council of Nigeria and the Cameroons, becoming a member of its executive committee in 1957 and vice-president of the NCNC Estern Women's Association in 1962. During the Nigerian Civil War (1967–1970), she organized Igbo women in support of the Biafrans. As a result she lost most of her property in Port Harcourt and returned to her native Oguta where she died in 1993. Recent changes
- The Community Wishlist Survey 2023 edition has been concluded. Community Tech has published the results of the survey and will provide an update on what is next in April 2023.
- On wikis which use LanguageConverter to handle multiple writing systems, articles which used custom conversion rules in the wikitext (primarily on Chinese Wikipedia) would have these rules applied inconsistently in the table of contents, especially in the Vector 2022 skin. This has now been fixed. [1]
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 7 March. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 8 March. It will be on all wikis from 9 March (calendar).
- A search system has been added to the Preferences screen. This will let you find different options more easily. Making it work on mobile devices will happen soon. [2]

Some guidance needed
Hello, hope you're doing good. Could you help answer my question here [3] ? Rejoy2003 (talk) 04:56, 10 March 2023 (UTC)
- Hello Rejoy2003, I'm afraid I don't know the answer to that. I don't know much about Google Knowledge Panels. Apologies. --Ferien (talk) 23:02, 10 March 2023 (UTC)
Keep on list of sociologists
I was a bit surprised to see that kept and the reasoning. My primary reason was "Unmanageable list without standards or criteria for inclusion or exclusion." which is not addressed in your decision.
Looking at the statements in the discussion (minus IPs who do not count) I see:
- Delete: Gotanda, Macdonald-ross, Eptalon
- Keep: IWI, Shoot for the Stars
It looked to me like it was heading to delete so I did not belabor the point in the RfD. Can you let me know how this was decided? Thanks, --Gotanda (talk) 13:56, 11 March 2023 (UTC)
- Gotanda, I am happy to expand on the reasons why I closed as I did.
- First, with statements: Macdonald-ross' delete !vote was made without any justification and Shoot for the Stars' keep !vote was not very helpful either, just basically per IWI's comments, leaving us with:
- Delete: Gotanda, Eptalon
- Keep: IWI
- Now going through each point... With your nomination statement, you give three reasons for deleting:
Copy paste from EnWP w/o attribution.
IWI comments that attribution has been given, and there is not any complex content, so this is not an issue.Unmanageable list without standards or criteria for inclusion or exclusion.
As IWI points out, there is criteria for inclusion – if there is a reliable source that calls them a sociologist, they can be included.Better managed by categories.
This is the final point that I believe was unaddressed in the whole RfD, that lists and categories are not duplicative and hence that is not a reason for deletion. That is why I added that in my closing statement.
- IWI argues against the points that you have given in the nomination statement, that I have already mentioned, also pointing out that
It is useful for editors for having a list of articles to create
. - In Eptalon's vote, he says about removing people who died before 1850 and that
we need a reference for each person
after that, making this listhigh-maintenance
.
- First, with statements: Macdonald-ross' delete !vote was made without any justification and Shoot for the Stars' keep !vote was not very helpful either, just basically per IWI's comments, leaving us with:
- So, after all of this, I'm basically left with your nomination points, two of which have been disputed, one that is a reason that is not recommended as a reason for deleting lists, Eptalon's comment saying that this is high-maintenance and IWI's comments that this is a helpful list. Ultimately, I chose to close as keep per what IWI says:
I cannot see justification within the deletion policies or guidelines to delete.
While in terms of !vote count, more people wanted to delete than keep, the reasoning for doing so was weaker on the delete side than on the keep, and there was no policy-/guideline-related reason to delete either. That combined with the fact that it had been open 3 days longer than intended made me believe that it was best to keep the article. However, if you still are not satisfied with the way I've dealt with this RfD, please search for another administrator on the administrators' noticeboard to review my actions. --Ferien (talk) 14:32, 11 March 2023 (UTC)- OK. Thanks. In the future I will make sure to more fully elaborate my reasoning then, but in this case I did not since it seemed to just be generating a lot of verbiage for no reason in an already overloaded RfD queue. We can see how Eptalon's point plays out. --Gotanda (talk) 15:06, 11 March 2023 (UTC)

Heya! Just wondering if you have time to look at Hut (dwelling). I'm planning to nominate it for DYK, is there anything that you (or someone watching this talk page) recommend I do? Thanks in advance, Justarandomamerican (talk) 13:44, 18 March 2023 (UTC)
- Justarandomamerican, hi! I don't know what you are going to make your hook, but the article definitely meets all the DYK requirements: it is US grade 6 on 3 out of 4 scores readability-wise, no red-linked categories or templates and has enough characters. No problems on my end! --Ferien (talk) 13:48, 18 March 2023 (UTC)
Question
Hi Ferien, I am wondering if I could talk to you privately? Want to ask you a question. Shoot for the Stars (talk) 22:05, 18 March 2023 (UTC)
- Shoot for the Stars, sure. Feel free to email me. --Ferien (talk) 22:05, 18 March 2023 (UTC)
- Did you receive an email? I checked my "sent" section in my email and it didn't show that it was sent. AJ (talk) 22:20, 18 March 2023 (UTC)
- Yes, it's because of the way Special:EmailUser works. I was going to explain it here but apparently mobile editor doesn't like me and just randomly deleted all my explanation... There's probably a page somewhere on Mediawiki that gives you explanation if you want it :) --Ferien (talk) 23:35, 18 March 2023 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) @Shoot for the Stars When you use Special:EmailUser, the email is sent by a Wikipedia e-mail account, not through your email, though the reply address will be your own email. This also means that the recipient can see your email, but you can't see theirs.
- As for the issue on mobile, I've been experiencing it as well. If I have to write something long, I just write everything on a private discord server before pasting it on Wikipedia's reply box. The new reply feature on mobile is great, but it can use some more work. — *Fehufangą ♮ ✉ Talk page 23:39, 18 March 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks Fehufanga! Mine seems to just add a load of blank lines at the end, and that box/symbol(?) that was at the beginning of the message I last sent. Much more convenient indeed, but doesn't seem to work very well... --Ferien (talk) 23:41, 18 March 2023 (UTC)
- Hey Ferien, I have been looking everywhere for your response and can't find it. I am so stupid when it comes to email. AJ (talk) 00:26, 19 March 2023 (UTC)
- Shoot for the Stars, I will respond shortly, I haven't been able to look at your email properly yet. --Ferien (talk) 08:19, 19 March 2023 (UTC)

Thank you!
Sorry for the late response Ferien, college has been really killing me. Anyway, I really appreciate the response! I wasn't sure to create the article due to the deletion of Richard Burnham going on, but now I know that one crime doesn't make someone notable even with there are multiple source writing about it. Thank you so much bro! AJ (talk) 04:02, 21 March 2023 (UTC)
- Shoot for the Stars, I'm happy to have helped you :) --Ferien (talk) 17:47, 21 March 2023 (UTC)
Trouted
Whack!
How did you manage to copy-paste the entire contents of Airplane into User talk:207.177.213.206?? That was hilarious. Justarandomamerican (talk) 19:58, 24 March 2023 (UTC)
- I always just copy and paste the page title when warning users for creating new pages, but somehow didn't end up copying the title. Then Airplane was in my clipboard as I was reviewing it for DYK. Definitely a deserved trout :P --Ferien (talk) 20:01, 24 March 2023 (UTC)
