Recent changes
- The
Special:Book
page (as well as the associated "Create a book" functionality) provided by the old Collection extension has been removed from all Wikisource wikis, as it was broken. This does not affect the ability to download normal books, which is provided by the Wikisource extension. [1] - Wikitech now uses the next-generation Parsoid wikitext parser by default to generate all pages in the Talk namespace. Report any problems on the Known Issues discussion page. You can use the ParserMigration extension to control the use of Parsoid; see the ParserMigration help documentation for more details.
- Maintenance on etherpad is completed. If you encounter any issues, please indicate in this ticket.
- Gadgets allow interface admins to create custom features with CSS and JavaScript. The
Gadget
andGadget_definition
namespaces andgadgets-definition-edit
user right were reserved for an experiment in 2015, but were never used. These were visible on Special:Search and Special:ListGroupRights. The unused namespaces and user rights are now removed. No pages are moved, and no changes need to be made. [2] - A usability improvement to the "Add a citation" in Wikipedia workflow has been made, the insert button was moved to the popup header. [3]
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 5 March. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 6 March. It will be on all wikis from 7 March (calendar). [4][5]
Future changes
- All wikis will be read-only for a few minutes on March 20. This is planned at 14:00 UTC. More information will be published in Tech News and will also be posted on individual wikis in the coming weeks. [6]
- The HTML markup of headings and section edit links will be changed later this year to improve accessibility. See Heading HTML changes for details. The new markup will be the same as in the new Parsoid wikitext parser. You can test your gadget or stylesheet with the new markup if you add
?useparsoid=1
to your URL (more info) or turn on Parsoid read views in your user options (more info).

Please be bold and help translate this article! The Preventative Coup of November 11 sometimes called the 1955 Brazilian coup d'état or referred to as an "anti-coup" or a "counter-coup" (Portuguese: Novembrada, Movimento de 11 de Novembro, Contragolpe, Golpe Preventivo do Marechal Lott) was a series of military and political events led by Henrique Teixeira Lott that resulted in Nereu Ramos assuming the presidency of Brazil until being peacefully succeeded by Juscelino Kubitschek a few months later. The bloodless coup removed Carlos Luz from the presidency because he was suspected of plotting to prevent Kubitschek from taking office. As a result of the tensions, Brazil had three presidents in the span of a single week. - After consulting with various communities, the line height of the text on the Minerva skin will be increased to its previous value of 1.65. Different options for typography can also be set using the options in the menu, as needed. [9]
- The active link color in Minerva will be changed to provide more consistency with our other platforms and best practices. [10]
- Structured data on Commons will no longer ask whether you want to leave the page without saving. This will prevent the “information you’ve entered may not be saved” popups from appearing when no information have been entered. It will also make file pages on Commons load faster in certain cases. However, the popups will be hidden even if information has indeed been entered. If you accidentally close the page before saving the structured data you entered, that data will be lost. [11]

Questions to create articles/page
I can create a page called: 'Rusrdanbis Alliance'?. Rusrdanbis Alliance (talk) 17:15, 20 March 2024 (UTC)
- Rusrdanbis Alliance, creating articles on topics you have conflicts of interest with is strongly discouraged, and therefore I am unable to help you with creating this article. --Ferien (talk) 22:18, 22 March 2024 (UTC)
Peanut stew
Could you have a look at User:Rathfelder/Sandbox/Peanut stew when you have a moment and tell me whether you think it is simple enough to be published? Or if not advice would be welcome. Rathfelder (talk) 17:37, 23 March 2024 (UTC)
- Rathfelder, yup, that's great, I have no issues with that being published. There are a few little things I'd change like
It has been described as one of the national dishes of The Gambia.
toIt is one of the national dishes of The Gambia.
(or eventhe national dish of the Gambia
), per w:National dish#G and maybe trying to use a different word other thancommercially
at the start but those are just minor issues. Thanks, --Ferien (talk) 17:39, 24 March 2024 (UTC)- Thank you very much. Rathfelder (talk) 17:44, 24 March 2024 (UTC)
- @Rathfelder If I may, it actually sounds really good. Have you had it before? One thing I did notice is you bolded the second using of Peanut Stew. It should only be bolded when it’s first used per Wikipedia:Manual of Style#First sentence. Thanks - PDLTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 23:20, 24 March 2024 (UTC)

All done
Hey Ferien - on Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard#Protection request for multiple pages I was able to get them all back in order and corrected. They obviously are stubs but the bones are back to the way they should be and all of the CAPS have been removed from fire engine. Thanks for your help even though there is still some subtle vandalism (exact same thing from before) but on a different range (of which I emailed you). Thanks - PDLTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 23:15, 24 March 2024 (UTC)

Please be bold and help translate this article! Magna Elvine Lykseth-Skogman (6 February 1874 – 13 November 1949), also known as Magna Lykseth-Schjerven, was a Norwegian-born Swedish operatic soprano. After making her début at the Royal Swedish Opera in 1901 as Santuzza in Cavalleria rusticana, she was engaged there until 1918 becoming the company's prima donna. She performed leading roles in a wide range of operas but is remembered in particular for her Wagnerian interpretations, creating Brünnhilde in the Swedish premières of Siegfried and Götterdämmerung, and Isolde in 1909. Considered to be one of the most outstanding Swedish opera singers of her generation, she was awarded the Litteris et Artibus medal in 1907 and became a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Music in 1912 (Please update the interwiki links on Wikidata of your language version of the article after each week's translation is finished so that all languages are linked to each other.) Deleted article
Hi Ferien, I think there were one or two articles that may have been wrongly tagged for QD around 03:00-07:00 UTC, 26 March. They may have been tagged as test pages with an explanation which didn't seem to qualify. They may have been among the articles deleted by Macdonald-ross from 07:08-07:34. Could you please review these deleted pages? Sorry, I have forgot the specifics. Kk.urban (talk) 15:41, 26 March 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Kk.urban, thanks for the message. I've just restored US Airways Group, as it's definitely not a test page and has the potential to become an acceptable article. Invasion of the Waikato also technically isn't eligible, but I'm not sure what I'll be able to get from that. Thanks, --Ferien (talk) 15:46, 26 March 2024 (UTC)
- Also, was X-Men '97 a test page? Kk.urban (talk) 15:48, 26 March 2024 (UTC)
- @Kk.urban: No, it was not. Restored, thanks. --Ferien (talk) 15:50, 26 March 2024 (UTC)

GA closures
Hi! I just wanted to check that I hadn't misunderstood how the PGA closures work. I couldn't find any info pages on what the rules are. Did I do something wrong for this? Happy to do it differently in future if it's wrong. Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 19:28, 28 March 2024 (UTC)
- Lee Vilenski, hey, usually admins do the PGA closures, so I did revert that edit, but then noticed this hasn't happened as much lately, and we don't have any rules that say it needs to be an admin who closes it. There's nothing wrong with your closure beyond that. Thanks, --Ferien (talk) 20:28, 28 March 2024 (UTC)
- ah, that makes sense. I did have a check to see if it was a requirement and couldn't find much, and the two before that one was non-admin so didn't realise it was a sysop item. Have a great day. Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 20:32, 28 March 2024 (UTC)
- Lee Vilenski, you too, sorry for the confusion! --Ferien (talk) 20:32, 28 March 2024 (UTC)
- For clarification, are non-admins allowed to close these, or is it admin-only? I ask as a non-admin who has closed a few before. QuicoleJR (talk) 14:26, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
- @Ferien: It looks like you missed my question. QuicoleJR (talk) 21:11, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
- Sorry, I hadn't looked at my talk page at all from when you sent that first message until now, and that's my bad. There's no rule against non-admins closing PGAs. They are usually done by admins though. I don't know whether it'd be worth a discussion. --Ferien (talk) 21:12, 29 March 2024 (UTC)

redirect
Hi, about this, apart from the hoax insertion, the content was mostly a copy paste from this page: [27] so that page history is filled with copyright violations, both copyvio and BLP issues would be good reasons to "first delete and then redirect" imo. And it was eligible for a G5 QD in the first place anyway. Tehonk (talk) 12:45, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
- Tehonk, ok, I've deleted those revisions from the history. G5 is still relatively new here, so we occasionally don't use it, especially when an article is already at RfD. If the copyright violations had been pointed out prior to/during the RfD, the article would already have been deleted per G12, but no-one pointed it out until now. Thanks, --Ferien (talk) 21:17, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
