Thank you for changing Wikipedia. We welcome all changes, but we can have only changes that are in simple English, and your new changes were not simple. Please see Wikipedia:How to write Simple English pages so you can write more simply in the future. Thank you. BRP ever 11:04, 25 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Over all, LouisAlain has created over 14,000 articles on 4 different Wikis including 10 on this one. After 10 years, he has a certain experience of how things work and won't contribute any longer here. Thanks for everything. (I'll never know if Arthur Grüber was more or less OK). LouisAlain (talk) 23:06, 7 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

You are free, and encouraged, to edit here. It's just not okay for you to take other people's comments, exaggerate them to extremes, and make aspersions on others' motivations. You are more than welcome to contribute here, so long as your edits and conduct are within community guidelines. Vermont (talk) 23:42, 7 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
And Arthur Grüber is mostly good; there's a few long sentences I would break down, and a few words I'd link to wiktionary, but other than that it's good. Vermont (talk) 23:43, 7 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Recent articles

change

Hello! I'm really happy to see that you're still editing here. Your recent articles are quite good, with only a handful of words that could be simplified each. If you have any questions or need help with anything, please feel free to ask. Best, Vermont (talk) 20:20, 9 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hello @Vermont:. Yours is a very nice and unexpected message which I deeply appreciate. Not seing any modification in my creations (translations actually, from German) I was kind of keeping on the job not knowing whether I was doing right or wrong.

Just as I was posting my 140th article I discover my account has been "blocked with an expiration time of indefinite". Reason given is Violating the "one-strike" rule ?

Up to 2 p.m I could post and now I no longer can. What went wrong ? What did I do in between ?

Thanks for explaining and reverting that block. LouisAlain (talk) 19:08, 22 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

it seems like a one strike rule involves people who go on this wiki that came from other wiki's breaking rules. You have been blocked on 3 other wiki's. Kolva (talk) 19:20, 22 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
Indeed, you were blocked by Djsasso under "one-strike". The idea is that if you do something wrong, you don't get much/any warning for it if you've been indefinitely blocked on another Wikimedia project. --Ferien (talk) 19:24, 22 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

It was no secret that the community blocked me on the en Wiki, I mentionned it on my first talk page edit (see [https://simple.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:LouisAlain&diff=7860845&oldid=7860843 Vermont's answer to a suggestion that the one strike rule should apply The good-faith motto, one of Wikipedia's pillar was invoked. Goes to show how interpretations vary from one person to the other. Now, I won't fight an uphill battle, I deeply regret if my good faith participations were harmful on the Simple English Wikipedia. At the end of the day, it is not me who vandalized the project but an administrator. Go figure... There are more things in heaven and earth etc. LouisAlain (talk) 19:34, 22 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Support Unblock

change

Hi. I have looked at the evidence and it seems that this user was blocked here (and also on other places) for bad translations that didn't attribute things properly. I think that that is the kind of matter that could warrant some reform and I would support consideration for an eventual unblock of this user, perhaps after a week or so, with some monitoring. Blissyu2 (talk) 08:58, 25 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

The idea of User:Blissyu2 is arguably not simple. I am suggesting: The community should instead consider that LouisAlain should get permission, to write on his Talk page, a number of stubs (or articles). I am thinking c. two stubs or articles. After that, we can revisit, the greater issue of unblock-yes-or-no (or other offers). (Do I think that monitoring-done-by-designated-mentors, works on a smaller wiki (as is Simple-wiki)? No.)

While LouisAlain is suspended et cetera, the talk page should only deal with subjects that have articles on English wiki; That might be convenient for us (when checking his "talk-page articles" while he is suspended et cetera).

Part of the justification for my suggestion above - is that few people are naturals at writing "dumbed down" English (or Simple English). 89.8.131.154 (talk) 09:43, 25 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
My rationale is that this user appears to be genuinely attempting to build an encyclopaedia and his translations appear to have merit, but he has perhaps gone in the wrong direction. I don't think his situation is irretrievable and, while I support his being blocked, I think it should have a plan in place to unblock after a period of time, perhaps with some restrictions. I suggest a week somewhat arbitrarily, and would be open to different amounts. Having been blocked myself on EN-wiki due to what appears in some ways to be a similar level of misunderstanding, I know I would have loved to have seen someone given me a chance, and I think that LouisAlain may be the kind of person who deserves to be given a chance to be shown good instead of bad.
Of course, if he were to mess up that chance, then I would support a restoration of the indef block. Blissyu2 (talk) 10:51, 25 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
My suggestion above still stands - but I am also fine with an indefinite block; the words of User:Blissyu are arguably doing little favor, except making one or more users bring up the word "canvassing" when thinking about the various roles User:Blissyu2 might be perceived to be engaging in - knowingly or unknowingly. (One can assume that I have good faith in the edits of Blissyu2 - although I am not going to admit if I am struggling with maintaining that good faith.)
In other words: User Blissyu2 has made his/her points - and one or more users might actually be less inclined to give any chances to LouisAlain if other users are going to drone on, and on, and on, and on - in one direction or another. 89.8.131.154 (talk) 11:13, 25 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
