Hi, I'm EhJJTALK 03:37, 7 July 2009 (UTC). I've just noticed that your username may not meet our username policy.Reply
This is not anything against you, and you are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our guidelines - we hope to see you editing again soon!

Our username policy says how you should choose your username. Put simply, you should not have a username that people find offensive, advertises a real world group or company, or is confusing (for instance, if it impersonates another user).

If you have already made changes and wish to keep your changes under a new name you may ask for us to rename your account. If you want to, please go here and ask for a new name. It will be changed by someone once they recieve the request.

If you think that Spectatorbot13 fits inside the guidelines, feel free to tell me why on this page, and I'm sure we can come to some conclusion.

However, please be aware that the username you currently have, Spectatorbot13 may be blocked from editing without warning — if your name is listed here, you may want to tell people why you should not be blocked on that page.

Thanks again,

Your username change

Your username has "bot" in it. We, generally, don't allow usernames with "bot" in them as it implies that you are a robot account that preforms automatic edits to this site. Also, for future infomation, it does not matter what they allowed on the English Wikipedia, we are not them; we are a different project. If you can assure us that you are not an automated account making non-manual edits then we may allow the username to be used. You can ask that you be allowed to continue using this name on WP:AN. Thank you and all the best! fr33kman talk 06:37, 10 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Oh, of course, I'm not a bot. The reason I chose this username was because I originally intended to only use it for the purpose of operating a watchlist, something you cannot have without an account. I have been editting Wikipedia since 2002 under dozens of IPs due to moving, switching to another ISP, or resetting modem. I never believed in editting under a username because I wished to be anonymous and didn't want any "cred" or social status on Wikipedia. I just wanted to edit and nothing else, period. I acquired an account for keeping a watchlist as it's more effective than keeping bookmarks or refreshing articles every couple of days to track its progress. Then I realized that logging in, accessing my watchlist of 50 pages and logging out (not intending to edit under a username) was rather annoying and inconvenient after forgetting to log out and accidentally editting a couple articles under both my IP and username, so I gave up and decided to use a username after 7 years of being apathetic. So that is why I chose the username. "Spectate" (watchlist) "bot" (personless, inactive account that doesn't appear to edit.)
Besides, it would be immediately obvious to anyone reviewing any edit I make that it cannot possibly be a bot. So I don't think twice about the username. It's generic, dull and nobody would care to know what it's editting. Exactly the way I want it, :)
So, block me if you must. I don't intend to edit simple wikipedia very often but if I find any article that looked like it needed a tine-up such as Multi-core then I don't hesitate to make an edit. However, I don't edit WIKIPEDIA very often (maybe twice a week) let alone simple wikipedia so I doubt it would mean much to either of us if I was blocked.--Spectatorbot13 (talk) 07:09, 10 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
