July 2015 change

You have been blocked indefinitely from changing Wikipedia in line with Wikipedia's blocking policy for using a non-bot account as a bot without approval. If you think this block is unfair, you may ask to be unblocked by adding {{unblock|your reason here}} below. If you cannot do this or the reason is private, please send an e-mail to simple-admins-l@lists.wikimedia.org and an administrator will look at your reason and reply. You may want to read our guide to unblock requests before asking to be unblocked. Auntof6 (talk) 09:54, 2 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

This blocked user asked to be unblocked, but one or more administrators said no to this unblock request. Other administrators can also review this block, but should not unblock the user without a good reason. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

sir, as you can see my contributions page i don't mean to harm wikipedia articles but i just want to fix the articles. So, i have run the bot without permission. Really sorry for the activities. I promise, it'll never happen again. Tulsibot (talk) 01:51, 4 July 2015 (UTC)

Decline reason:

Please see the reply you should've received by mail from a fellow admin. -- Barras talk 06:58, 5 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

Since I was the blocking admin, I will let another admin respond to this request. However, there is no reason for the bot to be unblocked unless you get approved to use it for some task. Some of the changes you made were actually harmful (adding non-matching commons links), and most were unnecessary. Please don't try to do any mass changes, even with your non-bot account, without checking with someone else first. I recommend learning more about how this Wiki works before trying to get a bot approval. --Auntof6 (talk) 03:02, 4 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
@Auntof6: sir, will you please block that bot account for a week or a month but i request you not to block for infinity time. I promise it'll never happen again. I hope you understand me. -- Tulsi Bhagat (Talk) 06:26, 11 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
This account has not been approved to do any work as a bot, so there is no reason to unblock it. The only reason to unblock it would be if it is approved to do work. If you have some work you want to do with it, then go to Wikipedia talk:Bots again, explain the work you want to do, and ask for approval. I have to tell you, though, that you probably wouldn't get approval any time soon for several reasons:
  • You did not follow the correct procedure for getting bot approval. The procedure is to ask for approval for a bot to do specific work, then wait for approval before doing the work. You did the work before asking for approval.
  • The work that was done with this account was not helpful in many cases. Some of it was minor cosmetic changes that we would not approve a bot for, and which didn't need to be done even by a non-bot account. Some of the work done was actually harmful, such as "fixing" redirects and adding incorrect Commons links.
  • You have done very little work here, and we usually want to see a lot more good work (under your non-bot account) before we give bot status.
So the indefinite block will stay in place unless the account gets approved to do bot work. --Auntof6 (talk) 06:54, 11 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
@Auntof6: sir, i know to clean the sandbox using bot. Is it helpful or not? May i ask for this function to wikipedia? -- Tulsi Bhagat (Talk) 07:15, 11 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
That wouldn't really be helpful, because we already have a bot that does that. --Auntof6 (talk) 07:20, 11 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
@Auntof6: sir, What about fixing links that contain common spelling mistakes? As you can see my contributions here on en wikipedia.
You "fixed" those links by removing the links. The correct way would be to fix the spelling. In fact, I suggest that you go back to the pages where you made those chamges and put the links back with correct spelling. I also strongly recommend that you not use the bot account on enwiki, because it hasn't been approved there, either.
If you have any other ideas about what to use your bot for, please bring them up at Wikipedia talk:Bots, not here. However, although I am not a 'crat, I will tell you that we would want to see that you understand how this Wiki does things before giving approving your bot. That usually requires more content work over a period of time. --Auntof6 (talk) 14:35, 11 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
@Auntof6: ok sir! I understand that. Thank you for the suggestions. -- Tulsi Bhagat (Talk) 15:19, 11 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
