Wikipedia:Editor review/RyanCross 2
RyanCross (talk · contribs) Hi there. I'm RyanCross. I have been editing at Simple English Wikipedia for over two months now and have amassed about 6000 edits with a reasonable amount of activity, and would like a review on how I'm doing around Simple English Wikipedia. As a side note, I would like to become an administrator in the future, and would possibly want comments around that area. I am not going to start an RfA based on the given comments to me here regarding adminship; all I would like is just comments if I would be a good candidate, but it's really up to the reviewers. Really all I want is comments that will help me know what I should continue to do around the encyclopedia or what I should change to help me improve it in a wider scale. Any feedback regarding my editing would greatly be appreciated. :) Feel free to ask questions also under the "Comments" section. Thank you. -- RyanCross (talk) 08:19, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

- Well, Ryan, there isn't much I can say – you're an excellent article writer who has bowed and admitted when wrong (HBP, TDK) and shown a desire to learn from that mistake and not commit it again. Although I haven't tested that out yet – nobody has tried to add an interwiki link that MediaWiki parses badly or included information about a character that was only revealed in inteviews with the author and not in the book itself. I trust, however, that you will be more hesitant to stop and ask questions instead of revert on sight when it comes up again. Cassandra talk 06:39, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
- Well, Cassandra, thank you very much for the review. :) And sure, I'll do my best to ask questions first, and even look an edit more carefully and the article itself before even considering to revert. Assume good faith is something that pops in mind when thinking about this. Thanks again Cassandra. :) -- RyanCross (talk) 07:06, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
- Honestly, you're too good of a user to ever fail an RfA, you report too many VIPs, QD too many pages and work on too many articles to be denied. You're been such a great user and I cannot wait for you to have an RfA. I've loved working with you and hope to do it more in the future. Cheers — AE (talk) 06:51, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
- Wow, thank you very much for those kind hearted words. :) I do my best, and I'll sure continue it in the future, with you, and the community. :) If I do become an administrator, like you said you think I would be one (not sure if the community will decide to make me one... but I have evevy confidence that they will), I'll do my best as one, and of course more article writing in between, here and there. That's why we're here, ain't it? :) Thanks, RyanCross (talk) 07:06, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
- I have to admit, Ryan, that I've been
stalkingwatching you all the while and there doesn't seem to be any reason to oppose you in any way! You're fantastic the way you are. See you on IRC!-- Tdxiang 05:25, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
- Heh, thanks. :) IRC? I've never seen you there... What is your nick? -- RyanCross (talk) 01:40, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
- My username is Tdxiang and I go on to
#vcn-simplewikis. I suppose we live in different time zones. You edit when I'm in school in the morning, so it's rather unlikely we'll see each other on IRC, haha.-- Tdxiang 04:24, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
- The channel is #cvn-simplewikis (typo?). In addition, last time I checked, SWBot3 was AWOL. Chenzw Talk 13:55, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
- You are such a good editor you should be in like a hall of fsme. I mean 300 edits on your 1st day is amazing. Peace Out! Falcon Shock me! 15:32, Sunday August 31 2008 (UTC)
- What can I say RyanCross... Definately a very good editor, never saw any problems, and your edit count is very impressive. Excellent work on getting Baseball uniform to GA and now PVGA. Things like this and this really sum things up well to be honest. I also need to use the old cliche: I thought you were already an admin. Kennedy (talk) 08:39, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for your review, Kennedy. :-) I appreciate it! Out of curiosity, until what point exactly did you discover I wasn't an administrator? -- RyanCross (talk) 00:33, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
- Ah, well only when I was curious enough to look it up. I just assumed, you seemed confident and knew what you were doing... I then looked up the list of admins and you were not on it. It was only a while after I joined, (after you joined.) Kennedy (talk) 08:03, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
- You know, I have no idea why you have filed an ER. Everything you do is exemplary, from vandal reversion to your massive answers to this ER below. I am surprised that you still haven't RfA'd yet; I'd probably waive all requirements, as you are probably one of the best editors here. [Here's the direct link. Click on it!] By the way, is there any specific naming system on q:? It all looks vaguely erratic (although I didn't look hard). 6383 edits, and counting! Microchip • talk 11:52, 7 September 2008 (UTC)
- Heh, thanks for the review, Microchip. :) Er, I (or my nominator, who knows?) will click on that link someday, not this second. ;) The reason why I added this editor review was so that I can see if I'm missing something or if there are any areas of improvement I can do. Though, by the looks of it, I'm doing just fine. :) And I'm not sure if we have a naming system over at Simple Wikiquote. It'll probably be best asking at the Simple Talk over there, so that other users and administrators (besides me) can discuss making one. -- RyanCross (talk) 12:04, 7 September 2008 (UTC)
- All round good editor, often at WP:VIP, and 68% (or was it 69) mainspace edits. To be honest, I can't find many faults at all. I'd definitely support in an RfA. Not much else to say really :) - tholly --Talk-- 15:53, 11 September 2008 (UTC)

Questions
- Of your contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
- Where should I start... well, I have been editing here at the Simple English Wikipedia for over two months now and I have over 6000+ edits counting deleted edits, 70% of which are mainspace edits, and over 300 deleted edits, which I can assume a great deal of them are WP:QD tagging. I have a few things I'm quite proud of that I have done around the Simple English Wikipedia. I have created and promoted one article to WP:GA status which is baseball uniform. I'm also proud of the work I have been doing for a chance at the Green Day article to be promoted to GA status. A list of articles, templates, wikiprojects, ect that I have created/expanded can be listed here. I do quite a lot of vandalism fighting around the Wiki, and have reported 30-40+ users/iIPs to WP:VIP, most of which that have been accurate and have been blocked. Oh, and sorry for flooding VIP... there were just so many vandals when I was new here. :P On the bright side, they were blocked and have been stopped to prevent vandalism. This probably shows I do a lot of new changes patrolling. Heh, I usually check new changes after every edit I make. :P Anyway, I sometimes participate in WP:RFDs also. I pretty much always participate in WP:RFAs too. I do a ton of copyediting and some wikifying around articles at Simple English WIkipedia. Many of our articles need some copyediting, weather it's a big amount of it, or just a small oart of it, and I'm usually the one who does that. I can easily find articles that need copyediting just be clicking Special:Random which usually brings me to an article I spot a problem with. The smallest and biggest of edits all help the encyclopedia. I always assume good faith unless the evidence convinces me otherwise. I usually do this when performing reverts. Some are just plain vandalism when others are just small test edits that I can believe was done in good faith. I usually participate in discussions at Wikipedia:Simple talk and/or at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard. I'm also a very nice person to be with, and I love helping others. :) I usually welcome newcomers and guide them when asked. So anyway, this is basically an overview of what are my best contributions of which I am proud are and I'll be sure continue doing them.
- Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
- Well, I had had my shares of good and bad things I have done, and just so I can get a good feedback, I'll be sure to try to mention all I can think of. My first "error" I would think would be right here, when User:Gwib told me not to welcome new users who haven't made a constructive edit yet. I welcomed a user who never made an edit... and still never made an edit from this day forth. I believe I handled the situation well and stayed cool, civil, and understood the situation and followed it. The next "error" would have been here, User:Cassandra telling me I made (a) wrong revert(s). You see, an IP added "this person is gay" to an article, and I reverted it, but it turned out the character really was gay. I then apologized to the IP, still keeping a cool and and being civil. The next one would be here, which is basically explained in the link. I have also been pretty constructive in discussion at RfA, which is usually where all the "drama" is these days. I have had some run-ins with User:ONaNcle, and I've been trying to teach him or her the right things, and I try to be civil about it. Of course, I have handled most of them in a civil manner. I can't think of one instance where I was uncivil or if I loosed my cool. Other small things would be a few bad reverted and a few bad QG tags, but that has drifted away recently. All my reverts have been accurate for a while and pretty much all the recent QD tags I have been doing were accurate. So anyway, I'm always civil and cool I believe and I handle every situation in a civil manner, and I believe that is a good quality for most users.
