History

Barnard was first settled in 1888. It was incorporated as a city in 1904.[4] Barnard was named for J.F. Barnard, a railroad employee.[5]

Barnard is at 39°11′21″N 98°2′39″W / 39.18917°N 98.04417°W / 39.18917; -98.04417 (39.189171, -98.044252). The United States Census Bureau says that the city has a total area of 0.22 square miles (0.57 km2). All of it is land.[2]

2020 census

The 2020 census says that there were 64 people, 34 households, and 18 families living in Barnard. The median age was 60.0 years. Of the people, 85.9% were White, 1.6% were Pacific Islanders, and 12.5% were two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3.1% of the people.[3][7]

Barnard schools were closed through school unification. The Barnard High School mascot was Cardinals.[10]
