Burdett is a city in Pawnee County, Kansas, United States. In 2020, 228 people lived there.[3]

History change
Burdett was a station and shipping point on the division of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway. The railroad went from Larned to Jetmore.[4] The community was named for the American humorist writer Robert Jones Burdette.[5]
A post office was opened in Brown's Grove (an extinct town) in 1877. It was moved to Burdett in 1887.[6]

Burdett has hot, humid summers and generally mild to cool winters. The Köppen Climate Classification system says that Burdett has a humid subtropical climate, abbreviated "Cfa" on climate maps.[7]

2020 census change
The 2020 census says that there were 228 people, 95 households, and 65 families living in Burdett. Of the households, 74.7% owned their home and 25.3% rented their home.
The median age was 41.2 years. Of the people, 94.7% were White, 0.4% were Native American, 0.4% were Black, 0.4% were from some other race, and 3.9% were two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 4.4% of the people.[3][8]

The 2010 census says that there were 247 people, 102 households, and 68 families living in Burdett.[9]

Burdett is part of USD 496 Pawnee Heights. The Pawnee Heights High School mascot is Tigers.[10]
Famous people change
- Clyde Tombaugh, astronomer who discovered the dwarf planet Pluto in 1930, he lived in Burdett during part of his teens.
