Australian English check, please
changeIt would be much appreciated if any Australian editors could have a look and make sure I haven't let any Americanisms or US spelling slip in. Thanks, --Gotanda (talk) 03:16, 25 December 2022 (UTC)
Three soldiers
changeWere there literally only 3 soldiers, and 2 guns, to shoot the emus? Or did these 3 have other soldiers under their commands? I really can't tell, and if it was only 3, why was this such a big deal that it needed support from the settlers and the army? Lights and freedom (talk) 04:06, 13 January 2023 (UTC)
GA status?
changeCheck needed by someone who knows the literature. Present-day status not clear enough. Present-day numbers of emus up or down? Overall lack of present-day long-term consequences of the "war". Good on the history, no doubt about that. Macdonald-ross (talk) 10:00, 14 January 2023 (UTC)
- What I find are the following sites:
- https://theconversation.com/all-cost-little-benefit-was-barrier-fence-is-bad-news-for-biodiversity-12333 - About the impact of the fence(s) on loncal wildlife.
- https://www.dcceew.gov.au/environment/wildlife-trade/natives/wild-harvest/kangaroo-wallaby-statistics/kangaroo-population - Kangaroo population estimates (this only seems to cover 2001-2011 or so)
- I haven't had an in-depth look at the article, so I don't know if, and how this should be added. Eptalon (talk) 10:59, 14 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Macdonald-ross and Eptalon: You guys realize that this is about the emu war, not the kangaroo fence, right? Lights and freedom (talk) 17:09, 14 January 2023 (UTC)
- There's a fence of about 135 miles (217 km), between two rabbit-proof fences, It was constructed between 1957 and 1959, and is called Lake Moore Emu Fence. Also, there'll be some statistics, as to how many Emus, where, and when, we just need to find them. Eptalon (talk) 18:00, 14 January 2023 (UTC)
- It seems to me that we do need to check on both emus and kangas, their current status and data, and their effect on farming. Well, the first step is to read En wiki. Macdonald-ross (talk) 09:00, 15 January 2023 (UTC)
- What with droughts, dingoes, rabbits, kangas, emus... the life of an Aussie farmer is not an easy one! Macdonald-ross (talk) 10:18, 15 January 2023 (UTC)

- Back to the point: after a lot of thought, I don't see any reason to drop its status. Macdonald-ross (talk) 10:25, 15 January 2023 (UTC)
A few remaining complex sentences
change@Gotanda: I think these sentences may be a bit difficult, because they have several clauses, use long words, or possibly advanced word senses or sentence structures. But I'm a native speaker, so I'm just going off guesses, and they may in fact be simple enough.

Also, it said a movie starring John Cleese & others was filmed in 2022. This was out of date (as of December 2022 it had not been filmed yet), so I corrected it. Lights and freedom (talk) 02:21, 26 February 2023 (UTC)
- @Gotanda Are you going to simplify these? Lights and freedom (talk) 08:55, 8 March 2023 (UTC)
