Amelia Goldberg (1862-1950) known as Nadege Doree is a Jewish American activist, actress, and writer.[1] She fought for justice for Jews.[2] Goldberg wrote "Gèlta, Or, The Czar and the Songstress” and “Did Jesus Change? The Answer of the Jew to the Question of the Ages.”[3][1] Goldberg was also a singer and wrote patriotic songs. [1]
Career
changeGoldberg was an activist and author. She wrote her two books (“Gèlta, Or, The Czar and the Songstress” and “Did Jesus Change? The Answer of the Jew to the Question of the Ages Nadege Doree.”[1][3] Goldberg was also an opera singer and actress.[1][4] She started writing patriotic songs, and producing plays.[1] She was a model for Duke cigarette cards and even had a race horse named after her.[1] She was an activist who fought against anti-semitism.[2][1]
Activism
changeIn 1905 during President Roosevelt's church service, she interrupted to try to convince Roosevelt to help Russia’s Jews.[1][4] She got arrested for that. [1][4] Later she sued Roosevelt’s secretary (William Loeb Jr.) 50,000 for a false arrest. [1][4]
