Welcome! change

Hello, APT41790, and welcome to the Simple English Wikipedia! I hope you will be happy helping here. You should begin by reading these pages: Wikipedia:Useful, Help:Contents, Wikipedia:Policies and guidelines, and how to write Simple English articles. If you want some ideas of which pages to work on, read Wikipedia:Requested articles or the list of wanted pages.

Even though it is a good idea to research an article (like looking at the discussion page) before making large changes, please be bold and try! Any changes you make that are not perfect can be fixed later. We are also working most on core articles and the most common topics until this Wikipedia grows.

If you want to ask a question or talk with other members, you can visit our version of the "village pump" at Wikipedia:Simple talk. Administrators on Wikipedia can also help you with more difficult problems. You can also ask me for help. The best way to do that is to leave a message on my talk page. You should always sign your messages on Talk pages by typing "~~~~" (four tildes) at the end of your words.

Good luck and happy editing! PullToOpenTalk 04:22, 7 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Requesting the deletion of a page change

Hello, you have requested that the page Soviet Socialist Republic be deleted. You have done this using a template. When you request dleetion, you laso need to put the page at The Requests for deletion page, so it can be discussed. There it is usually discussed by the community, for about a week. I have done this for you, so please go to that page, and add your reasons, and verdict. Thank you -- Eptalon 23:47, 7 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Interwiki redirect change

No, you cannot do an InterWiki direct, dear APT41790, as it is not allowed here. If you need help, don't hesitate to ask us! :)-- Tdxiang 10:40, 8 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Esperanza change

Welcome, APT41790, to Esperanza! As you may know, all the members have one important goal, which is the success of this encyclopedia. To do this we want to make the community better, and be the nice side of Wikipedia.

Redirects change

When you move or redirect a page, try to alway look for any problems it can create. A big problem tends to be Double redirects. Always check "What links here" and try to correct any double redirects you create. (Assassination -> murder created 4 - fixed) -- Creol(talk) 09:35, 9 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Copying over content change

Hello, APT41790. It is a valid approach to copy over content from other Wikipedias (for example the English one), before simplifying it. However, since this project is a bit short on manpower, the community expects the author who originally copied over the content, to at least start simplifying it. If you look at the list of unsimple pages, you will see it is already too long. So please make an effort, and simplify those pages you copy over from enWP. Thanks. --Eptalon 07:15, 9 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Images change

I read your comment about using images in articles on Wikipedia talk:Community Portal, so here's a quick intro. Uploading images isn't actually allowed over here to prevent all the dodgy copyright restrictions when re-using our information, so we get our images from Wikimedia Commons. That's the Wikimedia Foundation's collection of freely-licensed images. Any pictures you take or create yourself, you can upload there if you release them under a compatible license. There's pictures of virtually everything over at Commons anyway, so there's probably something already there you can use.

To include an image from Commons in an article, just use the same code you would use as it it was uploaded over here: [[Image:Filename.extension]] (eg. [[Image:Example.jpg]]). When it doesn't find the image over here, MediaWiki automatically searches Commons.

I think that's about it, but if you've got any questions just ask. Archer7 - talk 09:05, 18 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
