WelcomeEdit

Hello! I am assuming you have come over from the English Wikipedia, so you are probably familiar with the way this wiki works. I hope you like it here and decide to stay. Here are a few links to help you adjust:

There is much to do here. For example, there are a lot of articles that do not exist yet, which you can bring over from the English Wikipedia and simplify. Do have a look around and see what you would like to do. Thank you for joining us, and you know how to contact me if you need help. Brantmeierz (talk) 22:25, 18 February 2020 (UTC)

February 2020Edit

We like and strongly encourage helpful changes to Wikipedia, but "Reciprocal inter-insurance exchange" was directly copied and pasted from the main English Wikipedia. Please do not do that. Such articles are usually too complex. They need to be simplified before or immediately after being added to the Simple English Wikipedia. In addition, be sure to include attribution on the article's talk page. Thank you. Auntof6 (talk) 06:36, 19 February 2020 (UTC)

Simplification to Simple English was attempted. I will learn to add attribution in the future. Can I Log In (talk) 14:55, 19 February 2020 (UTC)

CategoriesEdit

When you create an article here, please be sure to use categories that exist on this Wikipedia. We don't have the same categories as English Wikipedia (enwiki). For example, the article 2020 daytona 500 that you created had all nonexistent categories on it. (In addition, it was moved because the title was capitalized incorrectly.) If you have any questions about this feel free to ask. --Auntof6 (talk) 06:46, 19 February 2020 (UTC)

@Auntof6: From WP:CW, "It is not required to remove all the redlinks (pages that don't exist here) because it may encourage the creation of these pages later." Should this mean I would have to remove categories that do exist here? There's no point in creating a category where there already is a category for the same/similar subject. Can I Log In (talk) 23:24, 23 February 2020 (UTC)
That applies more to articles than categories. Article names here tend to be the same as on enwiki much more than categories names do, so leaving redlinked article names does help show what articles are needed here. A redlinked category name is much more likely to either already exist here under a different name or have a name that wouldn't be created here (due to not matching the naming conventions here or not being in simple language). When you leave redlinked categories on a page instead of changing them to the categories used here, the article doesn't get into categories that help people find it.
You would of course not need to remove a category that does exist here, or create a category where one already exists. I'm not sure what your point is about that. --Auntof6 (talk) 02:19, 24 February 2020 (UTC)
"Removing non-existent categories from an article and replacing them with the existing category of the same subject" was what I intended to say, and your reply seems to answer my intended question. Can I Log In (talk) 02:49, 24 February 2020 (UTC)

Your common.jsEdit

I noticed that you were trying to load the “Prosesize“ gadget not that long ago. I personally think that my version would be easier to install... maybe you should check it out. --sithjarjar666 (my profile | my contribs | speak to me) 23:55, 18 June 2020 (UTC)

SithJarJar666 I'm not going to compare en:MediaWiki:Gadget-Prosesize.js and User:SithJarJar666/prosesize.js, but if you want to load a script cross-wiki, you can see some example in my global.js and global.css. Can I Log In (talk) 23:58, 18 June 2020 (UTC)
Well, I literally just copy pasted the en:User:Dr pda/prosesize script over here, so I think that they’re basically the same thing... --sithjarjar666 (my profile | my contribs | speak to me) 00:11, 19 June 2020 (UTC)
Basically the same thing is if you put this in your common.js or global.js.
mw.loader.load('https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=MediaWiki:Gadget-Prosesize.js&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript')
