- I am fairly confident I gave the information but I am fine to enter it again. MdsShakil, I'd just like to verify again that the real name I enter would not be used anywhere on Wikipedia publicly, correct? --Ferien (talk) 14:37, 1 April 2022 (UTC)
- No, it won't be published anywhere or if you wish you can use your nickname also —MdsShakil (talk) 15:29, 1 April 2022 (UTC)

So I can add tag confirmed sock puppetry of Android 2113853211
@Ferien: I would put using template {{Sockpuppet}} on Android 2113853211 celebrates 1st anniversary’s user page? Thanks Usernogood (talk) 15:59, 1 April 2022 (UTC)
- @Usernogood: I would recommend not using the sockpuppet tags in this case per WP:DENY. Thanks :) --Ferien (talk) 16:08, 1 April 2022 (UTC)
- @Ferien: OK I understand. I just ask. Usernogood (talk) 16:09, 1 April 2022 (UTC)

Problems
- For a few days last week, edits that were suggested to newcomers were not tagged in the Special:RecentChanges feed. This bug has been fixed. [1]
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 5 April. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 6 April. It will be on all wikis from 7 April (calendar).
- Some wikis will be in read-only for a few minutes because of a switch of their main database. It will be performed on 7 April at 7:00 UTC (targeted wikis).
Future changes
- Starting next week, Tech News' title will be translatable. When the newsletter is distributed, its title may not be
Tech News: 2022-14
anymore. It may affect some filters that have been set up by some communities. [2] - Over the next few months, the "Add a link" Growth feature will become available to more Wikipedias. Each week, a few wikis will get the feature. You can test this tool at a few wikis where "Link recommendation" is already available.

Db-g5
I strongly disagree with this, brunodam usually gets DB-G5ed given his career encompassing any violation of content-related rules (I won't count user-related ones): fake self-made sources, copyvios on a massive scale and, overall, POV pushing. However, if you carefully checked those contents for copyvios and falsehoods I'll be fine with it, but now the burden of proof is up to you. --Vituzzu (talk) 18:46, 5 April 2022 (UTC)
- Vituzzu, we cannot delete with G5 as a reason (because the community decided that G5 was a bad idea long ago, for better or for worse), unless the user is WMF-banned where m:WMFBAN applies if admins feel deletion is appropriate. If it's a copyvio or a complete hoax, I will happily delete it, as I just deleted one page as a copyvio. But unless it's proven a copyvio or hoax by the person tagging or a passing admin, we can't delete. I'll also point out that Brunodam is not currently globally locked and so can edit here with WP:ONESTRIKE applying, unless I am incorrect? --Ferien (talk) 20:55, 5 April 2022 (UTC)
- Meh, I think in similar circumstances bad faith should be assumed.
- Anyway, he's globally locked, along with some hundred sockpuppets.
- --Vituzzu (talk) 21:06, 5 April 2022 (UTC)
- Some time this week, probably this weekend, I will look through the pages for factual errors, copyvios etc. I already found one copyvio so the other two may be copyvios as well. I just don't have enough time to analyse properly right now. --Ferien (talk) 21:09, 5 April 2022 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) - Just jumping in on this because I just declined another QD you nominated at Pompeo D'Ambrosio. I didn't see any obvious hoax information or copyright violations, and since as Ferien pointed out, we don't have G5, I didn't see anything that met our deletion policy. I am all for DENY and aggressive reverting for locked users, but our wiki has taken the policy that contributions by blocked users are not deleted or reverted unless they violate content policy. If you have more information to help us in deciding to delete the article or in detecting future sockpuppetry, I'm more than happy to reconsider. Thanks for your help! Simple English and Hausa
What is the meaning of fabulous 197.214.17.21 (talk) 07:51, 6 April 2022 (UTC)
- I'm unsure what you are trying to ask. Fabulous can mean really good in English, but I'm not able to translate that into another language for you if that's what you're asking. --Ferien (talk) 08:55, 10 April 2022 (UTC)
Thanks for you constant work!

Disruptive IP(s)
Hello Ferien, please see the revision history of Wikipedia:Requests_for_deletion/Requests/2022/Tim_Byrne. The IP have abused QD and RfD tags in the past. Deppty (talk) 18:10, 10 April 2022 (UTC)
- @Deppty: While these changes are bad, I cannot delete an RfD as complete vandalism when this IP finds good reasons to delete the article – even if these reasons may not be correct, that is their opinion and they have cited policies as well. You are welcome to request quick deletion of that RfD again if you believe it is appropriate, but I definitely won't be the one deleting it as I created the article that is at RfD myself. --Ferien (talk) 18:15, 10 April 2022 (UTC)

Recent changes
- There is a new public status page at www.wikimediastatus.net. This site shows five automated high-level metrics where you can see the overall health and performance of our wikis' technical environment. It also contains manually-written updates for widespread incidents, which are written as quickly as the engineers are able to do so while also fixing the actual problem. The site is separated from our production infrastructure and hosted by an external service, so that it can be accessed even if the wikis are briefly unavailable. You can read more about this project.
- On Wiktionary wikis, the software to play videos and audio files on pages has now changed. The old player has been removed. Some audio players will become wider after this change. The new player has been a beta feature for over four years. [3][4]
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 12 April. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 13 April. It will be on all wikis from 14 April (calendar).

Apparently, this RfD was never transcluded to the main deletion page, and I see no consensus there. — *Fehufangą ♮ ✉ Talk page 13:34, 17 April 2022 (UTC)

Question regarding Washington state cat
Are there reasons behind which the ‘’U.S.’’ was removed from the categories for Washington State; will you please clarify Angela Kate Maureen Pears 17:29, 20 April 2022 (UTC)
- Hi Tropical Storm Angela. The U.S. is unnecessary as there is only one state in the world called Washington, and that was already reflected on the article and a few of the categories with Washington in it already, and it's better for readers if all of them are the same "Washington (state)" instead of some having U.S. and others not having U.S. I hope that explains it for you. :) --Ferien (talk) 19:22, 20 April 2022 (UTC)
Question about short descriptions/vandalism
Hi @Ferien, thank you or your help earlier today (my time, at least). I wonder if you might know about short descriptions in SEW. I was doing some cleanup on a page that referred to "women's rights," and I tried to link to the page with that title. In doing so, I noticed that the short description for that page is "Men are cool," which is definitely vandalism. However, unlike in English Wikipedia, I cannot find the short description in the code of the page. Where would I access the vandalism to clean it up, please? Do you know? Thank you,Castilibrary2 (talk) 23:24, 20 April 2022 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) @Castilibrary2 Hello! talkpage stalker here. We don't use short descriptions ({{Short description}}) here. The vandalism appears to be from Wikidata and I have reverted it. Best, — *Fehufangą ♮ ✉ Talk page 23:26, 20 April 2022 (UTC)
- Yay! Thank you @Fehufanga! Don't think it qualifies as stalking if you fix a thing. That explains why I could not find the code. Someday I will tackle understanding Wikidata, but I am not there yet. Castilibrary2 (talk) 00:57, 21 April 2022 (UTC)
Hi there
I tried closing WP:Requests for Deletion/2022/The Big Crack or whatever it was since the article was already deleted and having an RFD run for a deleted article sounds silly, but I think I closed it wrong. Can you fix it please? Derpdart56 (talk) 16:23, 22 April 2022 (UTC)
- Not too incorrect, just the {{deleted}} was in noinclude. I've fixed it for you :) --Ferien (talk) 18:03, 22 April 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you. Derpdart56 (talk) 18:04, 22 April 2022 (UTC)
Answering a small part of your question
I believe that you asked a question some minutes ago.--A small part of my answer is that the one template is much smaller (and has a lot less names).--Another thing which arguably has little or nothing to do with simplicity: When a new election is held, then the small template is likely to be corrected within hours or few days. On the other hand, creating a new template as a result of a new MPs, can take weeks, months or years (on a small wiki).--I don't really feel that these answers are helpful for the main discussion (and that's why the answers have landed on your page). Regards! 89.8.187.80 (talk) 20:20, 22 April 2022 (UTC)
- Ok, that makes sense. --Ferien (talk) 19:20, 27 April 2022 (UTC)

Please be bold and help translate this article! School of the Air is a generic term for correspondence schools catering for the primary and early secondary education of children in remote and outback Australia where some or all classes were historically conducted by radio, although this is now replaced by telephone and internet technology. In these areas, the school-age population is too small for a conventional school to be viable. User talk:Goo1103
Your logic was fairly sound there, tho I still think its easier to press delete than find a clean version to revert press 2-3 buttons.. to but I digress. I didn't see it had original content, just saw that single post from the page owner and didn't think there was anything to revert back to. As creator. I closed the RfD as unneeded (Ill admit to the fact that I created it in error (error of judgement) and no need to have someone else clean up my mess), tagged it up all pretty top and bottom then went and reverted the talk page back to the last good version. --Creol(talk) 02:06, 29 April 2022 (UTC)
