Please be bold and help translate this article! A hook echo is a pendant or hook-shaped weather radar signature as part of some supercell thunderstorms. It is found in the lower portions of a storm as air and precipitation flow into a mesocyclone, resulting in a curved feature of reflectivity. The echo is produced by rain, hail, or even debris being wrapped around the supercell (Please update the interwiki links on Wikidata of your language version of the article after each week's translation is finished so that all languages are linked to each other.) Compilation
If I type in "Compilation" in the search bar, it says "Wikimedia duplicated page" for the subtitle/description. What does that mean? Also, shouldn't it be a disambiguation page related to computer compilation? Epsilon-Minus Semi-Moron (talk) 17:33, 7 July 2023 (UTC)
- Epsilon-Minus Semi-Moron, it means that it duplicates another item on Wikidata and can be merged, once other local merges are complete. I'm not sure how that applies in this situation though. What we should probably do is change Compilation to a disambiguation page, as you suggest, then merge the Wikidata items to fix the description. The descriptions are all based on the descriptions of the items on wikidata.org. --Ferien (talk) 17:59, 7 July 2023 (UTC)

Recent changes
- The Section-level Image Suggestions feature has been deployed on seven Wikipedias (Portuguese, Russian, Indonesian, Catalan, Hungarian, Finnish and Norwegian Bokmål). The feature recommends images for articles on contributors' watchlists that are a good match for individual sections of those articles.
- Global abuse filters have been enabled on all Wikimedia projects, except English and Japanese Wikipedias (who opted out). This change was made following a global request for comments. [3]
- Special:BlockedExternalDomains is a new tool for administrators to help fight spam. It provides a clearer interface for blocking plain domains (and their subdomains), is more easily searchable, and is faster for the software to process for each edit on the wiki. It does not support regex (for complex cases), nor URL path-matching, nor the MediaWiki:Spam-whitelist, but otherwise it replaces most of the functionalities of the existing MediaWiki:Spam-blacklist. There is a Python script to help migrate all simple domains into this tool, and more feature details, within the tool's documentation. It is available at all wikis except for Meta-wiki, Commons, and Wikidata. [4]
- The WikiEditor extension was updated. It includes some of the most frequently used features of wikitext editing. In the past, many of its messages could only be translated by administrators, but now all regular translators on translatewiki can translate them. Please check the state of WikiEditor localization into your language, and if the "Completion" for your language shows anything less than 100%, please complete the translation. See a more detailed explanation.
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 11 July. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 12 July. It will be on all wikis from 13 July (calendar).
- The default protocol of Special:LinkSearch and API counterparts has changed from http to both http and https. [5]
- Special:LinkSearch and its API counterparts will now search for all of the URL provided in the query. It used to be only the first 60 characters. This feature was requested fifteen years ago. [6]
Future changes
- There is an experiment with a ChatGPT plugin. This is to show users where the information is coming from when they read information from Wikipedia. It has been tested by Wikimedia Foundation staff and other Wikimedians. Soon all ChatGPT plugin users can use the Wikipedia plugin. This is the same plugin which was mentioned in Tech News 2023/20. [7]
- There is an ongoing discussion on a proposed Third-party resources policy. The proposal will impact the use of third-party resources in gadgets and userscripts. Based on the ideas received so far, policy includes some of the risks related to user scripts and gadgets loading third-party resources, some best practices and exemption requirements such as code transparency and inspectability. Your feedback and suggestions are warmly welcome until July 17, 2023 on on the policy talk page.

Hi, Ferien. I am addressing the discrepancy between what's in Category:Deletion requests and what is actually listed at Wikipedia:Requests for deletion, and I saw Category:Comics nation sweep. You closed the RFD as delete on 26 June, but the category is still there. It doesn't look like it was deleted and later recreated. Is it still on your to-do list to take care of this one? -- Auntof6 (talk) 21:43, 17 July 2023 (UTC)
- Auntof6, hi, thank you for the message. What happens was I think I realised that the category comes from a template, started looking into it, then ended up forgetting, hence why it's been left for almost a month already.. Sorry about that. I have just looked into it and still can't find where the category is coming from. --Ferien (talk) 21:49, 17 July 2023 (UTC)
- Finding elusive stuff like that can be a pain. I'll give it a try a little later. -- Auntof6 (talk) 22:27, 17 July 2023 (UTC)
- It's coming from Template:Comics infobox sec/creator nat, the purpose of which seems to be to validate the value of the nationality field in Template:Infobox comics creator. I've removed most of what was in Category:Comics nation sweep by changing the format of the parameter value in the articles. Of the remaining two entries, one has two nationalities specified, and the nationality in the other one isn't in the template's list.
- Two possible ways to proceed with this:
- Eliminate Template:Comics infobox sec/creator nat, which would result in any value being accepted for nationality.
- Decide to keep Category:Comics nation sweep after all. The reason given for deleting ("Copy of an enwiki maintenance category") may not be a valid reason for deletion. If we keep the category, we would have a certain amount of upkeep to, um, keep up with. I don't know of any other infoboxes that validate nationality like this.
- What do you think? -- Auntof6 (talk) 23:07, 17 July 2023 (UTC)
- @Auntof6: Thanks for finding that. If it is actually a maintenance template that can be used, then I think we should keep it. Although, perhaps another RfD may be a good idea, as there was a consensus to delete at the time. --Ferien (talk) 14:28, 18 July 2023 (UTC)
- Maybe not a new request for deletion, if it shouldn't be deleted. I think I'll list it at Wikipedia:Deletion review, even though it hasn't actually been deleted. -- Auntof6 (talk) 15:12, 18 July 2023 (UTC)

Recent changes
- We are now serving 1% of all global user traffic from Kubernetes (you can read more technical details). We are planning to increment this percentage regularly. You can follow the progress of this work.
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 18 July. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 19 July. It will be on all wikis from 20 July (calendar).
- MediaWiki system messages will now look for available local fallbacks, instead of always using the default fallback defined by software. This means wikis no longer need to override each language on the fallback chain separately. For example, English Wikipedia doesn't have to create
en-ca
anden-gb
subpages with a transclusion of the base pages anymore. This makes it easier to maintain local overrides. [8] - The
action=growthsetmentorstatus
API will be deprecated with the new MediaWiki version. Bots or scripts calling that API should use theaction=growthmanagementorlist
API now. [9]

Please be bold and help translate this article! The cuts of pork are the different parts of the pig which are consumed as food by humans. The terminology and extent of each cut varies from country to country. There are between four and six primal cuts, which are the large parts in which the pig is first cut: the shoulder (blade and picnic), loin, belly (spare ribs and side) and leg (Please update the interwiki links on Wikidata of your language version of the article after each week's translation is finished so that all languages are linked to each other.) Template:Pixar
Hello, I removed all the upcoming movies on {{Pixar}} because I think they're hoaxes. Is that okay? 136.152.143.0 (talk) 21:05, 25 July 2023 (UTC)
- Hi there! Removing hoaxes is always acceptable, however there are a few you removed that should be kept as they do not appear to be hoaxes. These are:
- Elemental (2023 movie), en – which has actually already released
- Elio (movie), en – teaser poster for release next year
- Inside Out 2 – see w:Inside Out 2
- There are a few ones that should still be removed, but aren't complete hoaxes:
- Toy Story 5 – see w:Toy Story 5. There is no confirmation for the year, so that should be removed, but the Disney CEO said the franchise would continue. As it is untitled, I don't think it should be on there.
- Cars 4 is a possibility, but should still be removed until there is confirmation that it is coming.
- Incredibles 3 has not been ruled out and is a possibility, but should still also be removed because it is not confirmed.
- Thanks, --Ferien (talk) 21:20, 25 July 2023 (UTC)
- OK, I removed all the other ones and kept those ones. Last time they reverted my edits, can you watch to see if they revert them again? 136.152.143.0 (talk) 21:23, 25 July 2023 (UTC)
- We tend to get a lot of vandalism on movie/TV-related topics. I've blocked them, as they have added factual errors to lots of other pages. --Ferien (talk) 21:25, 25 July 2023 (UTC)

Could you block 45.186.174.50 due to further abuse? Thanks. 64andtim (chat) 05:14, 29 July 2023 (UTC)
