Flood flag

I have to revert many changes of Hazard. Can I have the flag please? Nataly8 (talk) 16:51, 20 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

I am not an admin at the moment, so could not give you this flag even if I wanted to. Sorry.--Gordonrox24 | Talk 16:52, 20 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Wait. In your user page said that you are admin. Nataly8 (talk) 16:52, 20 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Sorry about the confusion. I am an admin again, so feel free to contact me with any admin related requests.--Gordonrox24 | Talk 04:15, 22 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Yes, I just asked on IRC for someone to remove it. :) SimonKSK 23:43, 20 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

User talk:89.115.205.97

Sorry. I didn't see your message on User talk:89.115.205.97. You are welcome to restore it, but it does qualify for QD per A5. EhJJTALK 17:01, 23 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

That's fine. The message is still on his talk page, so if he wants to recreate it in English he's more than welcome. Thanks!--Gordonrox24 | Talk 17:03, 23 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Yay a book! Thanks Peter!--Gordonrox24 | Talk 15:52, 25 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Test pages

This is only a one-time test. I will not create any more test pages because they can be disruptive. But I created many chemistry articles and wondered, "Does anyone ever even read these articles?". No one saw it, so I tagged it with speedy deletion. --Chemicalinterest (talk) 16:59, 26 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

School IP

How you find that is a school IP? Nataly8 (talk) 15:34, 31 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hey. I just looked it up, and the ISP is registered to the school district. It looks like it is tagged as a school on en.wikipedia too. --Gordonrox24 | Talk 15:38, 31 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Yes, I cannot understand the anonymous behaviour. Well, good job! Nataly8 (talk) 15:39, 31 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Most useless redirect, I now delete you...

I'll recreate them the right way. I created about 15 redirects from sulphate to sulfate in a short amount of time and my fingers must have slipped from keep switching between the two forms. Sorry. --Chemicalinterest (talk) 19:19, 1 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Ah I see. Thank you very much! :) --Gordonrox24 | Talk 04:04, 3 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

You have a digital epistle

Thanks again. <3, Katerenka [talk] 01:24, 10 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Why does my entry keep gettting deleted

I am trying to establish a factual entry about a non-profit organization (New Visions New Ventures), I've followed the guidelines and my entry keeps getting deleted.

-What gives? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 199.244.214.59 (talkcontribs)

Hey there. Thank you for trying to contribute to the Simple English Wikipedia. The page, New Visions New Ventures was deleted per the quick deletion policy for advertising. Lines such as "New Visions, New Ventures fosters small business development" reads like an advertisement. If the article can be re-created with a neutral point of view and prove notability it is more than welcome to stay. Thanks!--Gordonrox24 | Talk 21:59, 20 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thanks

Thanks for the deletion =D. So... I looked at your user page on the English Wikipedia and saw that some help was needed here. How can I be of service? I'm also W:User:Netalarm on the English Wikipedia. Netalarm (talk) 23:10, 23 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hey there! Welcome to Simple! Here at simple we only have about 30 editors that are always active, so we can always use more hands. If you click the "Show Any Page" button you will see that many of our articles are small and could use an expanding, and a few references too! There are also many pages that we don't have, so people creating pages are also very welcome. We don't get as much vandalism as the English Wikipedia does, but we can also use another hand in watching the new changes for bad changes. We are a small wiki, we love to see new users and we can always use a hand. I hope you like it here and decide to stay!--Gordonrox24 | Talk 23:23, 23 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
Hmmm. A smaller community sounds nice =P. So most of the activity here is content development, not maintenance (which I mainly do on the English Wikipedia), right? I'll look into content creation - I can do that too, but before I do so... how simple should the English be? I can rewrite ENWP articles in a simpler English, but I might inadvertently make it too simple. Any guidelines on that? Thanks. Netalarmtalk 23:29, 23 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
Try to stick to the WP:BE850 and the WP:BE 1500. Griffinofwales (talk) 23:34, 23 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
Hey. Yeah there is a guideline written up at Wikipedia:How to write Simple English pages. Often people will do just that, and take an ENWP article and just make it easier to read. As we are only simplifying the language and not the content, it is very possible to make a write a good simple article using this method. If you want to take a look at a good Simple English article, you can head over to Wikipedia:Very good articles and skim through one of our VGAs.--Gordonrox24 | Talk 23:34, 23 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
Got it. In general. something that is notable for ENWP is notable here? Netalarmtalk 23:36, 23 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
We follow a similar system. We do have our own notability guidelines.--Gordonrox24 | Talk 23:54, 23 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

James Naismith

A question... I noticed that VolkovBot removed the link to the Simple English article James Naismith from the Wikipedia article of the same name (w:James Naismith). Following up on that, it appears that the article has been deleted from here on the basis of notability. Is it possible to find out what the article content was immediately prior to deletion? It seems odd that an article about the man who is credited with inventing basketball fails the notability test. Thanks in advance. --Ckatzchat 09:25, 6 October 2010 (UTC) (admin - EnWiki)Reply

The article contained vandalism only and contained no indication of notability at any time in the page history. Thanks for starting the article here. EhJJTALK 10:32, 6 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the follow-up. I have brought over the EnWiki article, but will need assistance in rewriting it. I don't feel comfortable enough yet with the writing style needed to properly present information here. --Ckatzchat 10:41, 6 October 2010 (UTC) (admin - EnWiki)Reply
EhJJ is correct. Thank you very much for checking!--Gordonrox24 | Talk 11:33, 6 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

bonjourno

i feel that myt last point on taboo was extremly valid and could be helpful to users especially people wanting to get advice !

The purpose of Wikipedia, although not censored, is not to unneedfully shock readers. --Chemicalinterest (talk) 19:51, 11 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
  • I was honestly unaware, until looking into it that the case which you are talking about is real. To me it just looked like you were talking about a random person fondling children. Not a pleasant thought. If you like you could re-add that as an example. Just tidy it up a little.--Gordonrox24 | Talk 21:33, 11 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Yum

Hey, Gordon! I was looking over your archives because your talk pages are always entertaining to read (yeah, I usually like to read all the old archives of admins, because seeing their old "newb" past is so satisfying for my burning envy  ). Then, I suddenly realized - *cries out with astonishment* - that you didn't get one single cookie yet! How outrageous! Barbarous! The sweet, mild, thoughtful Gordonrox: with no cookies in his cupboard? Surely our minds must be made of cotton and wool to forget this. Ah well, then, just a better opportunity for me to get to do the honorable job.

Belinda has given you some cookies! Now enjoy them!

I honestly am still astounded that you haven't gotten one yet. Perhaps everyone thought you were too good for cookies and decided to give barnstars instead... But I shall, indeed, stick to the good ole cookies. :) Keep up the good work, and you'll be getting milk next! (Oh no, I shouldn't have said that. Then you won't keep up the good work; who wants to get stuff from the gushy, mushy, silly little Belinda? Nobody that I know of. ;)) ingly, Bella tête-à-tête 03:08, 15 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Haha thanks! Yummy!--Gordonrox24 | Talk 03:58, 15 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Simple News: Issue 25

Grunny (talk) 11:37, 17 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Deprecated parameters

I am assuming that this means there is some info missing from a template - how do we fix them? I have been looking at Albert Jacka for example and comparing it with the enwiki page. I can't see what is broken. Can you teach me how to fix them? --Peterdownunder (talk) 04:45, 24 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

I was hoping somebody would know how to fix them, and that by creating the category it would raise some awareness. I'm not certain, but I'm assuming one or more of the parameters used on the templates on those pages are no longer in use... I guess the only way to fix it would be to find those parameters and update them.--Gordonrox24 | Talk 12:34, 24 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Question

I was just wondering if your username was refering to Gordon Freeman?

Haha I get that all the time, and the answer is nope. The name is from the NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon. :) --Gordonrox24 | Talk 00:16, 7 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
